I was in Phoenix one summer in August. I am here to say that I do not miss Phoenix at all during that time of year. People say "but it is a dry heat". I say it is too hot out there for me. I was happy to get on the plane headed east where it was only a not dry 95 instead of a dry 104-106.

On another note, I have been there and to Vegas in the early spring and that was a real treat.

I was in Georgia for a summer back in the mid 80s. Courtesy of our favorite uncle. Now that was some heat right there. We acclimated to it, worked in it every day from June 4 to Sept 9th. But does not mean I liked it!

I've lived in Phoenix for 37 years now, and I love it here! I'm an avid hiker, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that

you can hike here 365 days a year, and never have to worry about the weather ... yes, I even hike in the rain! (not that it rains much here )

During the, ahem, "winter" months, I hike in the middle of the afternoon, and during the hottest months I hike at dawn.

And if I do want some cooler weather in the summer, it's just a short drive north to Flagstaff and the surrounding areas.

in all my yrs there i always enjoyed outoor activiies and weekly hiking and camping in the mountains most of the year...never owned a car but bicycled everywhere and like you say most of the year you can get away with it ..only during the late winter/early spring months does it get a little cold. In the summer I'd head up into thr catalinas to hike in the cool of the pine forests and out of the desert heat of town...ah memories...

              Aaah, yes ... Mt. Lemmon!

You just reminded me of one of my favorite places to go hiking in the summer! Just a short 2-hour drive south

from Phoenix to the Catalinas - Mt. Lemmon is awesome, just over 9,000 ft. at it's peak, with great hiking, beautiful views,

and that wonderful smell of the pines ...

Wish I could get down there more often ... IIRC, temps are 20-30 degrees cooler there in the summer.
