I've decided to sell the '78 Bob Jones "Limie Accent"

80 SG Ol' Okie;79 engine & carbs w/pods, 45 pilots, 140 mains, Custom Mac 4 into 2 exhaust, ACCT,XS850 final drive,110/90/19 front tire,TKat fork brace, XS750 140 MPH speedometer, Vetter IV fairing, aftermarket hard bags and trunk, LG high back seat, XJ rear shocks.
yep from the looks of it ...the pipes run the same way...must be the height difference then...i guess...still would be prudent to check it out to be sure there are no clearance issues...
Ben, looking at your XJ picture, it looks like that exhaust ran outside the frame, but the Limie bike looks like it's contained under the frame. Looks to me like the pegs and alt. cover would hit before it did, and then it seems like it'd be the muffler before the header pipe.
Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.
You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

A trip to an appliance store should yield the side of a refrigerator shipping box.
It could be placed flat on the ground with one long side next to the tires, and raised until it hit something, and the angle noted.
Or, you could go out on a twisted road and grind something.
So I have started checking Limie out. So far she has needed attention to the front brakes. Knew this going in, so was not a surprise. Tod even gave me 2 new caliper pistons. Had a carb or two weeping fuel. Petcocks were doing same. So carbs and petcocks are now rebuilt.
I did run into a surprise when checking compression. Having checked several in the past, the norm is say 120-125 psi. Limie's compression was - are you ready? - 180 psi! From where I come from, compression is horse power. Not sure how Bob went about getting this much, but I am glad that it is there to be dealt with.
Got some junk in the fuel tank and am working on that currently. It is the Venturer tank.
That's it for now.

Glad to hear of the progress with Limie...Tod its not easy to see in the pics but I just wanted to be sure that there were no clearance issues with that exhaust....
Still of all the Jardines out there Bob Jones chose this model...its prolly the cheapest Jardine there was for our bikes. The way the header and mufller join together is just fit them into each other without any clamps or way to keep it from coming apart... I know DuWayne had the same clearance issues as i did...he even warned me before I bought that exhaust but i thought it would work out...it didnt...Glad to see its not an issue here...

It has not been mentioned and it may or may not apply to the concerns of clearance, but the Limie Accent bike does not have the center stand installed. It looks like it may interfere with this exhaust if it were on the bike - don't know for sure.

Yeah..pretty sure the centerstand wont fit with that exhaust...to me the biggest problem you'll have is using Limie to tour with any long ride you take...afterall it is setup as a cafe style machine unlike your Venturer which is setup for touring...still look forward to seeing it if you bring it to the SE rally...
