Garagamus, that tab looks like the seat has been fitted at some time with the tab not correctly under the tank mount but above it, then the seat sat on bending the tab up, the tab should be level with the seat base. Easily starightened for sure, just didn't want Rush making one wrong.

And it'd be a shame to cut up the near perfect seat pan

seat pan already has the back of it cut off. Other than parts, I don't know why I kept it.

          Nooo, all credit to Garagamus!!

Just a mention on what I was waffling about...... the tab should be level with the seat base not bent like the one in the pic, or you'll never get it under the tank mount rubber doodad thingymajig

Pulling the seat off is a snap with this mod:

Here's one thread, but it's also in the tech tips:

I did this mod about 2 years ago on my SG, and with the saddlebags on, it's still easy peasy.

I love this mod!!! However, I'm a cheap guy and I always have a 14mm wrench handy whether on the bike or in the garage.

I never have got that quick disconnect mod to work.

By the way Ian, I got a set of those free at a bike shop because they were removed from a bike and replaced. They are in perfect shape though.
