Help!

I need an adjustment screw/spring for a Yamaha 25HP 4 stroke outboard. We started using a "holder" for the engine, and the adjustment screw backed out because of the vibrations. Yamaha does NOT list it as a separate part, and a new carburetor is $300 locally. I do not have the dimensions, but it is smaller than the idle screw on the XS. If you know of a place that sells used parts, it's a 2000 25 HP 4 stroke, F25 model. The adjuster is on the outside of the carburetor, near the engine intake.

I think he is looking for the equivalent to one of our air/feul screws or idle screws. the rebuild kit you linked to Jeff are all internal parts.

oh crap I thought that spring was the one for the outside screw, I see it now.

Yeah, what I need is a screw that Yamaha does NOT list in the parts fitch. I need to buy a $300 carb for the screw that fell out! If someone has a boat wrecking yard close buy, and could get me a phone number or web addy, I can try them. I just need the screw cheap and fairly soon. A used carb, even in poor condition will work for me, if it has the dam! adjustment screw. Oh, and the carb is the same for all 5 models....

There is a goofball guy in the parts section that lists like 400 used outboard motors for sale in his same post for 2 oil filters that hes been trying to sell for $15 for the last 4-5 years... he might have something for ya. Hes from Maine...

As far as I can tell the carburetors are almost identical and the both carbs share the Yamaha 65W part prefix.

Where did the Pilot Screw go on the early carbs and where did the Pilot Jet go on the later carbs? (shrug)

I hate to think that the good folks that make the parts diagrams and lists we all depend on were asleep at the switch. That's not a good sign!

Is it possible the engine is not a 2000 F25, or that someone stuck a more recent carb on it like I did with the '82J carbs on my '80G?

While I was browsing around I found a picture of a 65W carb with a part number stamped on one end of the carburetor body. I can't remember where I found the picture now but I think the number was below the throttle plate.
