      Hi Greg,
as you are buying new fasteners I suggest you get large washers to spread the load on the plastic and also use Nylock nuts to gaurd against loosening from the vibration.

That's what I was saying about the washers and rubber insulators. Those chrome bumpers actually go all the way around the bags and that's what will be attached to the mount. The bags are attached to the bumpers.

I'm going to get larger washers for the bolts that hold them together also and there will be one bolt in the bottom where the support is too.

          Hi Greg,
My bags , original Yamaha, are attached to the Black Bracket with
3 (?) bolts with rubber washers and large flat washers on both sides.
In the event of a tip over the chrome bumper rails protect the bags.

Greg, Sorry to drag up an old thread, but how are the bags doing?
I've been searching for something to put on my SG and I forgot about this thread and found it and found these same bags on Ebay and their site and was wondering how they are holding up?

So far so good George. They are limited for capacity but they are good for tools, spare parts, and they make a pretty fair beer cooler.

So, most of the weight is supported by the bracket flat flange piece on the bottom of the bag?

Yeah, like I said before. I used an old set of mounts from an SG parts bike I had and just trashed the brackets that came with the bags. The brackets support all the weight and the bags themselves just contain stuff.

There's a small hole right in the middle of the bottom that works perfectly. When there's ice in there my bike marks it's territory wherever I stop.
