I've been going at it for about a month now and a few things I've noticed.
    1. My petcocks seem to be a bit smoother now.
    2. My throttle response is a bit better
    3. Once warmed up, it idles a bit smoother too.

Haven't notice much of an improvement in MPGs but that could be me too much on the throttle.

I've got to get my shims replaced and open up the valve clearances some, that might bring my compression up some and improve my MPGs some more.

For all you guys that carry the shot glass for measuring oil around in your saddle bags, what do you do about the residule oil in the glass?
There I was, in the fast food joint, getting some catsup for the french fries, and they had these little plasti/paper cups to pump the catsup in. Waddaya know, the bottom of the plastic ones said one ounce. Humm, wasn't that about the amount of oil that a full tank of gas used? And whats the harm of throwing the cup in the trash at the filling station, along with the empty oil bottles and paper towels?
Yeah, I know, taking some was not quite honest, but what the hay, at least I don't have oil all over the inside of the saddle bag. And I only took a few, and reused the one for catsup right there in the store, when I could have filled up 5 or 6, and thrown them away half full when I was done eating.
For those of you that have qualms, take it up with your spiritual advisor, I'm going to keep using them. CZ

        Great Idea CZ.
I was using a paper towel to stuff inside the plastic shot glass I got from a bar, but it broke and since then, I've been eyeballing it. (just pour in a bit each tank fill, about 3.2 gal every other day)
I think next time I'm getting some catsup, I might get more than I need too!

Update on the oil: I haven't seen any improvements in mileage, but I'm sure my lower mileage (32ish) is due to below min. valve clearances, that I'm usually going 70mph for my entire commute.
I have noticed my petcocks operate smoother and the bike seems to start and idle better.
If I get a chance this weekend, I plan on trying to get in there and swap some shims out. Hopefully this will improve things.

I just grab a paper towel from the dispenser next to the pump and wipe the glass out, them throw the paper towel away right there. I usually have to wipe a little oil off the bottle at the same time too. The problem with using a full ounce container, is that you can't adjust it for different amounts. I actually printed up and laminated a card I keep in my wallet that tells me the amount of oil I'll need in teaspoons for several different amounts of fuel, from 2 gal to 3.4, in steps of .3 gal. This gives me teaspoon measurements anywhere from 2.56 to 4.352. Since I'm never sure that I'm going to be filling up when I'm actually empty (group rides stop at rather random times), I need to do be able to adjust the measurements and making the conversions in my head is just too hard.

I just eyeball it too. I premix a little concoction of seafoam/2cycle oil/lucas fuel treatment and just dump an ounce or 2 in.

It must look funny sticking a baby bottle in the fuel filler for your bike.

Do you burp it later? !! LOL!!

Seriously, that's a pretty ingenious idea. That way you know exactly how much went in and the ziploc keeps the mess contained.

                    oil in gas

I added some marvel mystery oil to my fuel about 190,000 miles ago in my Harley Road king. Not always, but at oil change and now & then. Lately I have been adding Lucas top end lubricant & fuel injector cleaner. The 2 stroke oil sounds good...Something slippery in the fuel would help.

Valves and rings are still good. Plugs have not fouled.
Seems to be well worth effort & cost.

Used to do this regularly with the 85 Dodge trk. I had some 15yrs. ago. After moving to a bit lower elevation, the fuel injected 440Magmun(originally from a 6-pac Super-Bee, built from that forged steel crank and block from there) having 10:1 flat-top pistons, it would rattle(pre-ignition) a bit at lower rpms. Used to add a quart of Pennz two-stroke oil to a full tank(30gal.) of fuel. A small amount of dino added to fuel raises the octane level, plus the lubrication was a plus. Looks like with some actual testing, it definitely has some added benifits with the compromised fuel available today. Good to see this brought to the forefront, as it's been a known plus to the high performance world for several decades.

this stuff really works. been using it in all my cages for few months now. i have seen and felt the benefits. mpgs have gone up,idle has improved, throttle response is better, and easier starts.going to keep using it.

theres a cpl of other addatives that can also be used in fuel
                              for other purposes -

alcohol/metho - for water in the fuel
acetone - used as a cleaner
atf - used as a fuel preservative - i have an lpg car and use atf in the fuel as it rarely gets run on it and has worked really well.

I can help wonder if the gasoline companies know about this, since some of them sell oil too. Shell advertises that their gas clean the fuel system too. I can't see them not taking advantage of other benefits that some oil additives provide if true. The advertising along would be a boon to them. Also I was told by a Ford mechanic that Ford would rather have owner not use Pennsoil or Valolene as they fill the engine with sludge faster than other oils. With that I will be quiet and let you shoot at the messenger.
