So I watched that episode - what a hoot! He end-over-ends his XLH - pretty much off a cliff, and fixes it with a log and a rock. Then he goes trials riding on his Sportster. All I can say is that thing must have been manufactured before AMF got a hold of Harley-Davidson. LoL

When the Navy bike siezed in May on my trip, I had Seafoam in the tank (and by nature the carbs too). It sat until we changed the engine 3 1/2 months. Started right up exactly as before without cracking a screw. Just a synch.

I think the problem with Bill's is that he put the seafoam in after it sat for a couple years, if I understood him correctly. And I've personally had seafoamed gas go bad in a gas can after two years and crud up a lawnmower carburetor over one winter. And strangely enough two years is how long they say seafoam will stabilize gas.

I'm not in a big hurry to rebuild a rack of carbs if they don't need it, but I don't like removing and installing them multiple times with a stock air box either. I'm thinking the smart move with this bike's recent history is to just give them a good cleaning while they're out. And with the new diaphrams the slides have to come out anyway, so it's not that much more work to just go ahead and clean them properly.
