Well, the seller has probably well over $2K in NOS parts included, so that makes the asking price a little more in reason, but that still may be a tough sell in this economy...

It might be a pretty good deal. I bought my Special about eight years ago for $2K. I don't keep careful records, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn I have more than that in mine! That looks like a fine bike.

Remember the recent "crate fresh" XS650 that sold for $5K?
This one has no reserve. It's right there for all to see. Instead of last of the breed, it's the first. I think he'll sell it. I bet it won't draw a bid until the last day, and it will come in at just about the asking price. That's my guess.

It's a lovely bike but I doubt he'll get $8,000 for it, even with the spare exhaust. If I knew how, I'd do one of those poll things that someone did for the FD swap...... along the lines of "Do you think this bike will sell?"
XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. New project now on the go. 1980 European model.
I'm betting that in the box exhaust is the one that went on e-bay not long ago for a hefty price. This owner would likely do better selling the bike as is and the NOS parts separately. Does a new buyer / owner really need a complete NOS exhaust for the bike if the exhaust on it is next to NOS? Not likely. Same goes for the other NOS parts that are being packaged with the bike.

I know the owner; he is a member here
I think he's more worried that it will sell.
The big buck Eleven exhaust that sold on eBay a while ago was either a non-USA system, or the victim of a post-EPA rule for a later year Standard model; there was a tin emissions tag riveted to the side of that set.
The twin to this bike sold last spring for $5600.

Sure it's gonna make some noise, there's GAS exploding in there!

Bob Jones Custom Navy bike: Tkat brace, EBC floating rotors & SS lines, ROX pivot risers, Geezer rectifier, new 3H3 engine
Sale ended, and its still here - whew... Going to have to think this one through. I have a very tempting offer just for the bike, and more than a few on the exhaust, yowza. But it is serviced for storage, so could stay just a little longer...
Cheers!
