Much interest in the pipes as you can well imagine! In my infinite lack of wisdom, the parts will not go until the bike is sold; otherwise someting bad to the installed set (or anything else I part with) will happen. Murphy's law prevails

Your kindness is second only to your generosity! I could not imagine imposing on such a considerate individual as yourself. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and try and find a slot to store it here - possibly if I lean it up against the garage and cover it with a few trash bags it will be OK for a year or two...
That fool is back at it; relisted the bike W/O any extra parts as per popular demand; started that dude off at 99 cents, but with reserve...
As a friend of the XS11 Yamafamily here, the inside scoop is the reserve is just shy of 2/3 the price on the last auction; the value (to some, including the owner) less parts.
If the bike DOES sell, there will likely be a very expensive exhaust system lurking in the "Parts For Sale" section here on the Forum; possibly some NOS shocks too. As far as the other stuff, hard to say; spares can save lots when doing repairs and services, and fill up those empty shelves really well in the mean time.
The fundage fom the sale (if it happens) will go towards rebuilding the RaJay turbocharger on the rat bike. Might even get a few rattlecans (haha, the root word of Rattlecan is Rat) of paint and some new stickers and really make it fast! That poor toad is so ugly, especially when parked next to the pretty one; guess that is what 33 years of excessive thrills and crazy spills will do compared to the opposite extreme. The tall gearcase will likely remain, and since it only has 80K on the clock, best leave the engine alone; looser is faster, and currently the only smoke the bike makes comes from the rear tire :-0
There is a track day coming up at Hallett Raceway in Oklahoma on the 7th & 8th, so anyone wanting to pit-crew please give me a call. Since the track has only a couple places that 3 figure speeds are attainable, the Eleven stays home, and the trusty-rusty RD350 will get a little exercize. Wrestling that big moose around a tight track is not near as much fun as making high speed passes at Daytona! Now if those leathers will still zip; guess that is why a pit crew would be handy - to stand on my gut after I Yamalube up. Cowhide peoplesausage for lunch? Everyone always says "Leave 'em on, just leave 'em on" Huh...
Cheers!

Foreda,
Why is your grill covered, inside? It will never earn that great grill taste without getting something on it!
Healthy is merely the slowest rate at which you can die
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better. I’ve always believed this, in spite of the trouble it’s caused me. Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba….Hunter S. Thompson

Funny that you ask... That grill is about 5 years old and has been used rarely and only by me. I am a stickler when it comes to keeping my stuff clean (especially my bikes!) so it only gets used when I am home which is not very often. I asked the wife why she won't use it while I am away and she said quote: "I'm not cleaning that SOB" like you do! So now you know why the grill is covered!
And I thought the Kenmore cover was a diabolical disguise for the 'best' bike in your stable. If you want to keep the wife away from your man-cave cookery, just buy a Yamacover for it!

Great idea!! I actually have one of those.. By the way. there are more bikes in there, they are just not in that photo. The wall behind the Kenmore grill is no longer there, it's 20 feet further back. I needed the extra room because the wife wanted a card table in there so her and her friends can play cards and drink all of my beer!!
Why don't people just buy low miles speedometers and forget the bike? In comparison to the gem that just sold for $5K, this one is ragged. I question the miles and such too; shouldn't the '79 have an 85mph speedo?
Considering the condition of the clearcoat, blued pipes, and chrome pits, seems something is awry. And should it not have a gold surround stripe on the side covers? Look at the paint finish on the sidecovers and seat trim in comparison to the tank - no match.
It is also missing the lifting handle. Something is up here...
