    surgery begins

could possiable take and run the hose to the front of the carb and attache it to the the sync tube on the intake manifold then you should have a stronger vacum source,. if im not mistaken your vaccum drops a little when you open the throttle up. or you can take your pod filter and tdrop it back down to the crankcase breather hole and see what that will do. the whole goal is to get yourself good positive crankcase pressure anyways just throwing my 2 cent's in there but she's looking really really nice

thats gonna be alot of hoses

and ruin the clean look of the open pod area...

maybe just time to live with a little smoke until its time to refresh.

it has 53K miles on it so a little smoke that it has is ok.

@mrutah - if I run vacuum to before the carbs then it is same as a leak and won't run right.

        Almost done....

Got the seat back and mounted - the first place I had taken it the seat sat in the shop for 3 weeks and everytime I went in the owner said he hadn't been able to get the seat guy to come by - finally got frustrated and researched somewhere else to go to - the new guy does good work in his gallery I was impressed and made an appointment.

Here is the stock seat on it for comparison:

Here is the new design - now this was my other dual-bucket touring seat with a quilted cover - I had him shave the side "buckets" down - replace the upper section of foam with ortho ultrafoam and narrow the front a tiny bit to make it more comfy at stoplights when feet go down....

I left it a little taller in rear than I originally wanted to because SWMBO wanted the same or more comfort riding and thinning would not leave enough foam under her , um "arse".... small concession. She says its cushier than before - Mission Accomplished!

I added the off white panel at last minute and am glad because it breaks up a potentially long strip of brown and kinda matches up with the stripes on the sidecovers. We discussed bringing it down the side but I didn't want it to look like it was supposed to match and didn't.

Waiting on the Plexifairing like Howard's to arrive and I am thinking of putting the airbox back and using a K&N instead.

                  Thanks Rich -

I had the white Longhorns on the covers - but wife looked and said too much and wrong shade of white. I am deciding on some smaller chrome longhorn badges instead.

Just think a little black paint over the white and you have an OSU bike

OK I have been working on an idea...

So I wanted a way to carry a basic roadside repair kit with me for those longer daytrips and i have no enclosed fairing so I was thinking about what to do about it.

I decided the space under the rack was a little underutilized so here is what I have so far (I am awaiting latches to finish so use your imagination)

I started with a 4' section of angle aluminum and hinges...

I cut it into 4 one foot sections - two above form the back half of the box.

Below you can see from the side how it is setback from the seat so the hinge can fall down for access.

From the top it remains flat.

Here it is mounted and awaiting latches.

And you would be surprised what I can fit in this old kit (I used to use this in the field when deployed as an intubation kit) - standard and metric wrenches (so I can assist Harley owners too), Leatherman Tool covers the pliers and knife needs, replaceable bit screwdriver with bits for all kinds of hex/torx etc. universal socket wrench and crescent wrench for a second wrench. Zipties, fuses, clamp maker and baling wire, duct tape, cold shrink electrical tape (rolled inside spark plug socket), snap ring pliers. What I really need is an old digital voltmeter I used to own that was 1/4" thick and 2"x3" but I cannot find it.

Anyway hope this gives folks ideas they can use.

Great place for storage. I'll file that one in the memory banks.

Am I dreaming or haven't I seen some chrome Longhorn badges on truck mudflaps? Might find them at a truck stop? What am I thinking! You prolly have a red phone, strait to the Texas bookstore!!

By the way. Are those bars from a goldwing?

                          Finished box with latches

Received the latches and riveted them in last night. Here is a backside view of the tool storage.

Not really sure if I want to add tiny padlocks. Figure anyone that wants in will just destroy the box. I can always tote the tools if I need to.
