Ok so last Fall I bought a Venturer tank from andreasweiss when it came available because I didn't like the short range of the Special tank on Great Ranger even if it looked cool.
Here is a pic from today after a ride...
After getting used to the larger Standard tank on The Rising Sun I decided it was time to finally do something about it. I started by working on the small dings and scratches in the tank's primer black finish. Inside looked just fine.
After new filling primer...
My new theme for the bike goes back to last November when I went to the UT vs OK State game (ugh. don't remind me) and saw a tailgater with a nice Longhorn themed Hardley. Figured if it looked nice on his, I could pull it off on the XS without spending $30,000.
So here is the color scheme in case you haven't guessed...
The plan is to color match the side covers as well - I am thinking I am going to place an angled, widening stripe similar to the Bob Jones style on the covers in the same off-white.
Here is a test fit...
I ordered new grips and a new LED taillight in the style of a 1938 Lincoln Zephyr that will be here this week and be mounted on the soon to be painted fender. It will replace this...
The seat has been sent out to be redone in saddle leather.
I managed to wrangle the airbox out - pods will be replacing it once I search again on what I have to change to accomodate. First I need to figure out the plumbing from std petcocks to octy since the fuel lines are different sizes.
Stay tuned...
John
