Wow a XS1100 trike!! I cannot wait to see how it comes out. Sorry I dont have any ideas on how to help you.
Just out of curiosity, why a trike? If its a balance issue maybe a sidecar would be a easier / cheaper option.
Good luck with the project!!

There are a few trikes on the UK site. I know it's not much help, but it's all I can give!
I DO know of the "conversions" for the newer Goldwings and HDs. I don't know what it would take to fit one of those onto an XS, though.Ray Matteis

Much cheaper than a full-blown conversion, and they're rather heavy. Steering is pretty heavy too, as 'normal' rake/trail is too much for it, much like a sidecar rig. I've got a friend who put one on a bike for his wife (she couldn't reach the ground, even after lowering the bike) but it was too much for her to steer.Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Trike
How about one of these. It's called an "Instatrike". I know a few guys that have put them on their Classic Goldwings.

sorry about the legs and all the physio in the world can only help so much, eh?
Admittedly, I'm prejudiced in favour of a sidecar instead of a trike but a sidecar is a far simpler install, a decent used chair can be had for $1,000 less than your $2,500 budget and my complete XS11 & sidecar "how to" is available on this very site.
Admittedly you will have to get used to the asymmetric riding technique but that can work for you once you are used to it.Fred Hill, S'toon
