Haven't been here in a while, been busy putting Vette engines in Porsches LOL....
Where have all the Vets gone?
Seems like a lack of in-depth knowledge being pondered here lately......

Most of the vets are still here. Some of the newer members did leave though. I would love to see some pics/vids of those Porsche's, though. That is a lot of power in a little car.

What? It was a simple statement of fact, and where they can be found. Do you have a problem with someone pointing out where some of the previous regulars are now? I'm not going to go into anything about why they are not here or that, it's not my place, but it's a simple fact, they are not here, but are on the other site, so if someone comes looking for them it's perfectly reasonable to point out where they can be found, is it not?

Kinda like telling your customers that one of your skilled technicians has left and gone to a competing company, and then telling them where to find him.

good thing money is not the motive here. Just being decent. Maybe that's a (deleted) thing

So, who considers .org a competitor, another resource, or an alternative?
                  I consider it another resource.
This rift (again) has me considering dropping off all XS sites.
I first encountered the XS Yahoo site (still get informed of JP's birthday) when I got my XS in 2000 or 2001. There were members rumbling on there about a switch from the previous encarnation (before my time). Some had been banned and started XS11PlusII on Yahoo which is still around. I dropped that site as it had the air of grown-ups that hadn't lost adolesence. The main Yahoo site was closed and everyone was directed here if interested. Others started AllXS11s on Yahoo (I get those posts still).
Some XS11.com members started another site because they liked the hot button topics and talking with less restraint than was expected on here. They (forwhatever reason, none of my business) were banned on here so the XS11.org became more well known.
There are a lot of people that own XS/XJ 1100's. That is what we have in common. In that group of people are individuals, and each individual has a different personality. Where there are personalities there are going to be some that are compatible and some will conflict.
With all the XS11 sites there is a knowledge base. In the last 9 or so years I've had my XS(s) I have learned enough to keep my bike(s) going. Most of what I read on here is repetative (not a bad thing). I do like the mods people have discovered (cam chain adjuster, 750 final drive, to name a few). Reading about the get-togethers is cool, but makes me depressed that I don't get to attend them. That is tempered by the fact that I'm not much into group rides.
All this snitting about 'this site' vs 'that site' is a big turn-off. When no one else answers a question and I feel I can help, I reply. I try not to interject my opinion of the style of XS they are trying to acheive. I have my preferences and 2 bikes to exercise those preferences on. You do what you want to your bike.

Guess that's about the end of my rant. Let's go out and ride, winter will be here too soon.

Decency works both ways, and maybe there's not a lot being shown back the other way.

However, maybe it's time to let it go and move on. I for one will be ignoring posts which are clearly 'bait' from now on, and refraining from posting any futher on the whole "them and us" debate.

                              It just not true

Anyone who thinks that the old guard told "ALL THE KNOWLEDGE" about these bikes with them when they left to set up their own site, is just not looking past the end of their nose.
If the leaving of the old guard in any organization, association, operation or business could result in the end of that group, there wouldn't be any around because they would all cease to exist in a single generation.
Intelligent persons with knowledge do not keep it to themselves. They share it by ALL the methods they can find. Sharing their knowledge is the only way to get recognition for their knowledge be the end goal personal gratification, or profit.
Persons who hide or hoard their knowledge are really just pissing in their own cereal and robing themselves of the recognition they deserve.
Like the kid who picks up his ball and goes home to spite other kids, he is also NOT PLAYING THE GAME. The Internet wouldn't even exist if everyone picked up their ball and went home.
