Those guys are would sell their mother and say she was from XS 1100. They had a TCI for sale that were from a xs750 or 850 and after mentioning to them they were wrong the listing stayed the same for over 20 days.

If anyone cares, I'm pretty sure those coils are from an early xvz1200 yamaha venture...

I have some parts listed on eBay for a1982 XJ750 and I got a message from a guy telling me the parts were from a 1983 model and I shold change my ad.

Told me my bike was suppose to have a square speedo/tach.

I'm scratching my head because my bike does have a square speedo/tach.

I checked the paper work from the court house and went and looked at the steering stem.

          Bike was built in 12/81.

I posted a link to my photo bucket acct. to show a short clip of the bike running.

The bike has a fairing on it and I turned the lights out so buyers could see the digital read out do it's thing.

My mistake was putting a link to a album instead of the clip.

          He was watching a clip from a 1980 KZ1000.

I explained everything to him and he wrote back and I would imagine he was embarassed.

Still I thank him for the heads up as I changed the link to show the clip.

Those look a lot like the coils from an XS400, 750 or 850 all of which share the same coils, just different numbers of them. They exchange from one to the other just fine.

But I can't see how you could ever get them to work on and XS11.

I emailled to advise him of his error and he replied with simply this

              Dear brianw5194,

              These were on a XS1100

              - jimscycle5151

Somebody must have done a lot of bodgying to get them in there, let alone getting them to work. They actually wouldnt be hard to wire, you'd just have to connect two in parallel to eack pickup, and make two pairs. They'd charge up and fire okay but I'm not sure the TCI would like the load of four coils instead of two.

                  Also not bad:

In Jersey with low mileage (how does that happen with a 30 year old bike?). Starting at $800 but has a reserve.

Starting at $500 (with a reserve). Buy it now is $1,200:

Given the condition of the tank and seat and the mileage I wouldn't go any higher than $800-900.

                      Jim's Cycle

I have dealt with Jim a couple of times. He's a pretty nice guy and all, but I don't remember seeing a XS11 over there. If they are coils of a xvz 1200 I'll head on over and see if he has the motor. Maybe there are a couple of cam chain tensioners lying around. If there are I'll snatch them up and let everyone know. Does anybody have the part #'s for XS11 coils? That would settle the question right away.

Well I know that XS1100 coils don't have removable wires, and there are only two of them per bike, not 4. XS400's, 750's and 850's use coils that look just like that, with the same hookups and all. I can't say for certain what they ARE, but I can say for certain they are NOT XS1100 coils, and if they came off an XS1100, someone had heavily modified it to get them on there.

Ok, I couldn't tell any difference on it from being an 80, how were you able to identify it as an 81 (not debating if your right, I'm sure you know, I am just curious for knowledges sake).
