The ride of the XJ air shocks is far superior to the coil overs any day. I've ridden with both and my kidneys vote for the air.Greg

When it comes to fixing stuff, you're my hero. Don't doubt it! But....when I read posts about leaking shocks, they are not on my radar. I don't want to mess with stuff that doesn't stay fixed. Yes, good shocks are almost $500 and much, much more if you're so inclined. I can afford to miss a few meals, speaking for myself.Marty (in Mississippi)

Nice pic. of some classic bikes. Far right of the pic.....I do have to wonder who would have an XS1100 Martini on this side of the pond. As most of you already know, that IS my favorite version of the XS1100.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

The shield is:

I would also look at the National Cycle Plexifairing
It is on an 80G.
I don't take it off but I do re-adjust and tighten it on occasion.

I picked up an '81 LH after the SE rally. Last week, I rolled it in the garage and dropped the carbs in the ultrasonic cleaner. Sunday, reassembled them and hit the starter. Runnin' again
Cleaned and di-electric greased all electrical connections, removed the airbox and re-aligned the airbox-to-carb boots, tightened up the clamps and took a heat gun to them in an attempt to reform them to the proper shape (PO had them on wrong, probably when he started an airbox fire and melted the PCV manifold inside). I then installed a new battery ,started Galaxy and blew out 18 months of cobwebs. I removed the exhaust system and gave it a fresh coat of VHT silver ceramic paint. She now starts better than ever! Planning on taking her to Corbin here in Ca. to get the seat redone to alleviate the butt burn and lower said skinny butt closer to the pavement."Galaxy" 1982 XJ1100J, 1983 XV handlebars, new fusebox, homemade SS wind screen and SS muffler heat shields, homemade grab bar extension and luggage rack.
