      • Went for a ride... About 100 miles from the house while on the interstate, I went to give the bike WOT to pass a semi and the throttle cable snapped. Maybe that gorilla grip Brant was talking about? lol. It snapped in the middle of the cable, not at one of the ends. Weird. Pulled over and took my luggage, seat, and tank off. Fished the new one through (Always carry a spare throttle/clutch cable) and fought that little dumbbell end back into the carb linkage without scorching my hand on the hot motor. Put her back together and off I went. I wiped off my hands on a rag, but they were pretty disgusting with grease. So for the next hundred miles, my nose itched like crazy and I couldn't scratch it! lol.

Ended up with @ 300 miles for the day and rode up the Pig Trail here in Arkansas through the Ozarks. Only had to pass maybe 10 cars and just one Harley in the last 77 miles of twisty roads. Sunny, high 60's.... beautiful day of riding with more forecasted for tomorrow. This little laptop is terrible trying to post pics with, so I'll post some when I get home. Fear not my northern brethren! Spring has sprung in the Ozarks and it will soon be heading north!

          • Yeah, I carry an assortment of things on trips. Usually stuff that has put me in a bind in the past: Cables, clutch handle, drain plugs for the engine oil and drives, crank seals, wheel bearings (inc. the wide rear one), u-joint, brake pads, one of those washer-headed bolts that sits behind the clutch basket... Just no hub drives for the rear wheel yet. lol. My first trip out east several years back, I brought enough stuff, pistons, (Early and late because of the years of bikes going) rings, crank bearings, etc... Enough parts and tools to rebuild a motor on the side of the road if needed. Probably 70+ pounds of stuff. I've scaled back a lot.. lol.

              • What did I do? Totalled my bike? lol

Well, I didn't bring enough stuff to fix this situation. I seem to have an alignment problem...

Downhill slope + jackazz truck/trailer driver pulling out in front of us+ oily patch in the road = 2 wrecked bikes. Yup.. I washed the front end out, trying to keep the bike off of me while we're both tumbling, then my bike took out Ivan's FJR. Road-rashed and sore, but nothing broken. We weren't even on the brakes that hard.. not like a panic emergency stop or anything. More pics later.. Right now, dinner and many drinks before we quit moving and get all stoved up. lol.

Is the frame twisted or just the forks bent?

I am glad to hear you and Ivan are OK.
Where are you? I suspect not close to home? Has a rescue party been arranged yet? Emphasis on party as while that "will buff out" I suspect not at the side of the highway
Once again really glad you escaped the grim reaper.
