Yes, I figured I need to go through the sync dance again.
It only seems to be fussy when cold, so I think I'm close.

Been out in the cold garage this morning working on the E I got from draketrumpet. Got the carbs reinstalled after repairing them and the preliminary adjustments/sync done. It sounds pretty good.

It looks like your front fender came off of a Special and your forks are standard. You will get a better fit with an XS650 Special. Those are rather plentiful. That's a nice looking bike you have there.

The bike sounds pretty good, nice rumbly sound, what kind of exhaust do you have on it?

Thanks, that's a good tip. I'll have to keep my eye out for a 650 fender. The fender that came on it was all one piece of pressed steel that was chromed (but dented). This "new" fender was made in two pieces, and I had to tweak the mount holes a bit to get it to fit.

Nope, all original. That fender has a dent in it though. I have another for it.
It runs good. Only 25K showing on the speedo. Gotta get the tank, side covers, fairing, bags and trunk painted now. Probably need to find a different seat for it, the pan is pretty rusty.

That is the stock exhaust, it does sound good. However its in kinda rough shape so I have an almost new Mac 4 into 2 with flare muffs that will be going on it. They have a pretty tuff sound to them

The fender comment was from jetmechmarty about my bike. sorry for the confusion. I'm not sure how you guys can tell the forks and fenders from a 15' photo, but maybe one day I'll get there...
I guess I really do have a franken bike. I'm afraid I haven't helped matters either, but I think I like the franken aspect of the bike seeing how it was resurrected from the impound lot. I'm surprised it didn't get a salvage title, but I'm glad it didn't.

You do have a Special fender on there. I can tell that is a Standard frame but there are a LOT of special parts on there. Interesting.
The Standard fender is 2 pieces welded together. The mounting bracket and the fender itself ar 2 separate pieces welded together.

The XS650 Special front fender fits like it was made for the XS11 standard. The XS650 does not have a leading axle. Those bikes fall to the Sawzall every day, so acquiring a fender should be easy. (if you want one. )

This has been sitting around too long gathering dust.
So I am spending the evening getting it ready to go into this.
A few things yet to do before I put it in. Might get a buddy over to help guide it in so I don't wreck any paint.
2-79 XS1100 SF 2-78 XS1100 E Best bike Ever 80 XS 1100 SG Big bore kit but not fully running yet.
Couple of more parts bikes of which 2 more will live!
You better get busy. Spring is right around the corner.
Cardboard and duct tape on the frame rails. That's what Doc and I used on his fresh powder coated frame. Not a scratch.

Got the little bags installed and wired today.......
Need a little advice from you electrickery gurus. The lights aren't working like they should. I believe that all the lighting I have now is overwhelming the charging system but I'm not absolutely sure.
Here's the deal.
Before the change I had running lights on the fairing, tail light, headlight, TS, and brake light. All worked well together but had some dimming of running, head and tail when TS were on.
Now with the lighted bags there are tail lights, ts, and brake lights in the bags along with what I had before. I installed a foreign car TS/BL adapter but now the TS work but are very dim and dim all other lights when flashing and stop flashing all together when the brake light is thrown into the mix.
Am I over loading the system? Do I need to see about another adapter? If I change the bulbs to LED's and put in an electronic flasher will that fix it?
Input please.
Greg
