With 10 hp.
He ain't gonna set any speed records. He probably has to sit on that thing 10 or 12 hours to go 140 miles. A bicycle could get there faster. And a single cylinder must vibrate like a jack hammer. It's basically a novelty.J.D."Jack" Smith

DiverRay is right. A diesel engine produces lots of torque not hp. For example the Chevy Duramax diesel makes 365hp @ 3200 rpm and 660 ft lbs of torque @ 1600rpm. Plus, the Rebel is an beginner level 250cc bike that is not really made for highway use (although it is highway legal). I believe that they are used in a lot of the rider training courses. The Rebel only produces 16.1HP, 12.4ft/lbs from the factory (1996 #s).Dave

The downside to deisel is that the redline is lower then a gas engine. I imagine that bikes pulls good for a Rebel off the line but doesn't have the top speed like a normal Rebel, unless his transmission is that good. The 250cc class bikes really depend on having a good gear ratios.
None the less, I like it. It's way cooler then a moped.1980 XS1100 Standard "Touring"
