    Rider down

Wildkat informed me a couple of hours ago that Lee, aka Trainz, had a mishap during the Talihina ride today. Apparently he had lost his brakes while in a turn and hit a tree. He has a ruptured spleen, and kidney, punctured lung, broken ribs, tailbone, and a compound fracture of one of his legs. He is to be airlifted to a hospital in Ft. Smith Arkansas. Let's all keep Lee in our thoughts and pray for a speedy recovery. That is all I have for now.

Will do John. Sounds pretty serious, glad he had good folks around when it happened.

Going out to put the SS brake lins on and check and recheck everything a few times afterward!!!

              Hi John,
that's a nasty thing to hear about.
On the off-chance that the Greenies are right and that what you do to one tree is what you do to all trees,
I'll go throw a log on the fire and say to it "This is for Trainz, so BURN, you bastard!"
              Keep us posted, eh?

Wow! Kinda puts a damper on the gathering... Sorry to hear about this one. I hope Lee gets better quick. Sounds like some nasty injuries, but nothing life-threatening. I'm sure he'll be good as new before next riding season rolls around.

                          Update on Trainzz

Lee has a fractured femur, pelvis and sacral. Lacerated kidney on left side, lacerated spleen. All ribs on left side are broke. Flail chest with a punctured lung. He has received 4 units of blood. It seems to be pretty bad so everyone keep him in your prayers. They have stabilized him, put in a chest tube to help with the collapsed lung, and sent him to Fort Smith, AR. He has quite a bit of surgery to go through.

As for the accident, we are not sure exactly what happened. Lee was riding with the group and had just come around a corner not really going especially fast, maybe 40mph. Bohn was riding behind him and said it looked like he was just pulling off onto the shoulder. There were no skid marks and it did not appear that he locked up the brakes at all. He went across a gravel driveway and into a ditch and had heavy contact with a tree. Here are a couple pics.

                          This is the tree

This is the corner. You can see the track he took as he came off of the road. He was out of the corner already.

                          From the other direction.
