Things are certainly not looking good for Lee. We just received word that on the way to Fort Smith, something must have gone bad so they detoured to Poteau, OK. It is a small town not far from here. He is now in critical condition and they are trying to stabilize him.

Never good to hear that, My thoughts are with you and i hope all goes well.

Seems to be an epidemic of it here at the moment. Just last week, 2 blocks from home a Harley rider I known got cleaned up by a 17 year old kid in a car at an intersection. Thats the third so far this month in this town, and we only have a population of 50,000, and not a lot of bikes. All of them middle aged guys who have been riding for years.

My prayers are with him and his family. I have a rider in another group that went down a week ago last Thursday. He is still in ICU, and undergoing surgeriy's. It was on his way home from our meeting at Rockin Wings. I don't like hearing these, and when it is one of ours, it makes it worse.

          John, Bigfoot,

DAYAM, so sorry to hear about Lee/Trainz! From the looks of the photos and track, sure doesn't look like he lost control from the curve itself. I hope they have checked him for both cardiac and brain function....he might have had a ministroke or something to cause him to loose his line, and just plow into that tree....with what looks like without trying to evade/ swerve, or even jump OFF!? Our family's best wishes go out to him and his family!

            Damn!!!

I just spoke with Wildkat and she will be going to Poteau to look in on him tomorrow. This was kinda wierd to me because if I had gone for this rally, I would have been riding in the back of the pack with WK and Lee would have been just a couple of bikes ahead of me. I might have witnessed it.
Hey you guys in Talihina, I share your sorrow at having this happen today. I'm with all of ya.

Very sorry to hear how this is going. I'm with TC, looks to me like he had something else going on as he certainly did not miss the turn or lose control but just did not turn all the way. Had plenty of room to miss that tree and just beelined for it.

Prayers are with Lee and his family.

I agree with that... If he had been in ANY kind of control, he should have been able to swerve around that little tree... I sure hope they are able to get him patched up tonight! How much gear did Lee have on at the time?

                    Riding Gear?

                    Hey Bug,

I hate to say it but I doubt much, from what I've seen of the Texas contingent's previous ride reports. They often have just helmets, due to the extreme hot weather they often encounter. I hope that this may demonstrate the need for a bit more than helmets and shirts/pants are needed to try to preserve life and limb during rides. This is why I got a nice armored mesh jacket for my hot midsummer riding vs. my very sweaty leather one.

We just found out that Lee has passed away due to the injuries sustained in his crash.

Please keep his wife Terry in your thoughts and prayers.

FWIW, Lee was wearing boots, jeans, helmet, heavy leather jacket, and gloves. Sometimes it doesn't make the difference.

You know, I look at that tree and the wreck and I figure even in a cage he would have been hurt pretty badly. Possible the same outcome really. As the head was not the injurred part, the chest and organs were the true trama region, and not from friction but impact, hard to figure anything you can wrap yourself in would have helped.

Words can not express the sense of loss as one of our family is gone.
