Well folks, I'm gonna expose a little personal information about myself, in the hope that it will help losen your purse-strings
I have dealt with Type 1 Diabetes since I was 5 years old, and when I was 10, I became the 8th person under the age of 18 in Los Angeles County to receive an Insulin pump. I have worn a pump now for over 20 years, and can't imagine going back to 3 shots/day like I was doing back then. It's because of organizations like the American Diabetes Association that I am able to live a normal life and enjoy things that most people take for granted, like stopping for a meal at a restaurant at a moments notice, or even having an ice cream cone with my family.
I just learned about a local event (they are happening in several locations across the country as well), that will allow motorcyclists to raise money with a ride for Diabetes. The ride is on September 27th, and ends with a bit of a festival/gathering of riders from all over the St. Louis area.
I know times are tough for all of us, and the idea of donating money to anything other than the "beer fund" seems a little out of reach, but if you could spare just a few dollars, I would appreciate it. Here's a link to my B.A.D. Ride Page, and there's a link on there to "Sponsor Me". Any amount is good. I'm hoping for at least $100, but more is always better.
Thanks all!
