  • Anyone wanna sponsor me? B.A.D. Ride

Well folks, I'm gonna expose a little personal information about myself, in the hope that it will help losen your purse-strings

I have dealt with Type 1 Diabetes since I was 5 years old, and when I was 10, I became the 8th person under the age of 18 in Los Angeles County to receive an Insulin pump. I have worn a pump now for over 20 years, and can't imagine going back to 3 shots/day like I was doing back then. It's because of organizations like the American Diabetes Association that I am able to live a normal life and enjoy things that most people take for granted, like stopping for a meal at a restaurant at a moments notice, or even having an ice cream cone with my family.

I just learned about a local event (they are happening in several locations across the country as well), that will allow motorcyclists to raise money with a ride for Diabetes. The ride is on September 27th, and ends with a bit of a festival/gathering of riders from all over the St. Louis area.

I know times are tough for all of us, and the idea of donating money to anything other than the "beer fund" seems a little out of reach, but if you could spare just a few dollars, I would appreciate it. Here's a link to my B.A.D. Ride Page, and there's a link on there to "Sponsor Me". Any amount is good. I'm hoping for at least $100, but more is always better.

    Thanks all!

Holy Cow!! I can't believe how great you all are! In less than 12 hours, I have over $100 in donations! I knew this place was great, but I never expected this kind of response. Thank you all so much for your help and support. I still plan to talk to my employer and co-workers, so I've raised my goal to $500 (cooler prizes if I get that much ). If any one else can spare some change (no amount is too small), I would really be grateful.

              Thanks everyone!

I'm in and glad to help out. My affliction with this has gone on for 25yrs.
There have been many advances in treatment during this time but still a long way to go for a cure. Thanks to everyone who helps out.

                          Hey bug,

Maybe I am not as sure footed as I like to think. I will donate if you give me a specific link. I have followed what seems natural but am at a loss.
I am unemployed, but think this is important!

Deny - On the page that I linked to in my original post, there is a button with a picture of a really old motorcycle on it, and it says "Sponsor Me" on the button. Click on there, and you'll be sent directly to the correct page. Or, Here is a link to the actual sponsoring page. You skip the intro to the event by going there though.

And thanks for the support! I hope things pick up for you soon, employment-wise.
