The bike will probably not be released until the Sheriff's department finishes their investigation. At that point a buddy and I can stick it in my pickup and take it to Ivan's. It usually takes 2-3 business days for the insurance company to look at the bike and arrange to pay for towing and storage. Once that is settles, the car lot will let the bike loose.

As to parts, I have another '80 and a '79 we can glom parts of of. Until I can get the bike to Ivan's, dunno what parts we will need. I figgure that unless the frame is totally trashed, which it doesn't look like, it should be fixable.

As to funds for him and his family, since kat has set up an account, lets all dump some dinero into it. If you need to snail mail it, you can either sent it to her or me. pm me for my snail mail addy. Once I have anymore information, I will post it.

    Thanks ya'll
    Awesome Lee!
    MANY thanks!

What I'll probably end up doing is sending the Paypal account info to Ivan's wife once things calm down so that she can access it directly...

If you don't mind controlling the snail mail donations... that would be great... fewer mix-ups that way... and you're in a better position to get them to Ivan and his family...

    Thanks again!

Sounds like everything is coming together! Like I said earlier, I would be willing to roll down to Hutch with my trailer and pick up Ivan's bike, just as soon as the law, and the insurance is done with it. I'm also pretty sure I have all the parts needed to fix it, ie wheels, frames, whatever. I also have torches, welders, and anything else we will need to fix it, as well as a team of volunteers willing to help, thanks to Vincer and Bigfoot. Lee, just let me know when, and I can be down there to get it, and we can get started. Also, if they need some help around the house or whatever, I am in, anything I can do to help, just keep me in the loop. Take care,

I wish Ivan a speedy recovery and easy goings for his family.

I am still amazed at the sense of family, loyalty and dedication that comes through from the members of Channel 11. I would normally say that is an uncommon trait in the world today, but there are so many here I can't say that. Cudos to everyone.

                  Ivan,
Just read this thread tonight! As I got back late yesterday from the west coast ride, I didn't know about this. Try to get feeling well so you can keep the nurses in shape! We are ALL thinking about you, as it could have been any one of us!

Hutch motorcyclist injured when hit by car

A Hutchinson man was taken to a Wichita hospital Saturday after his motorcycle was hit by a car. Ivan Trail, 34, was westbound on Fourth Avenue about 3:30 p.m., according to the Reno County Sheriff's Department.

As he slowed to turn north onto Augustine, a car, driven by Neil Pederson, 16, hit him from behind.

Trail was transported to Promise Regional Medical Center and then taken to a hospital in Wichita for a broken pelvis. Pederson refused treatment at the scene.

For those of us too far away to help with the rebuild (like myself), and for those of us (also like myself) whose only contribution to the rebuild would be to hand out tools to people who actually knew what they were doing, the way to help would be to make a contribution to Ivan's fund that has been "stickied". I know that I do not have a lot of money to contribute but a lot of little amounts add up. I never met Ivan but he seems like one hell of a guy from his posts.

Ivan, get well and God's speed. You will have plenty of reading on ch 11 to catch up on.

Must have skimmed over this a couple of times and not really read it. Anyone of us could be in the same shape regardless of our skill with the bike. Makes you think. Sorry one of our own is hurt Everyone pray for Ivan to heal quickly and well.

Ivan I'm sorry to hear about it. Hope you heal fast. My prayers are with you and your family. I wish I was closer to offer some help.

As for the bike goes it can be fixed. I just hope he gets paid for it really good. A bike this old and with the insurance company they may not want to give nothing for it. And yes someone needs to get his bike asap. The storage yard may not care about a bike that old and they may leave it on the ground uncovered. So hopefully soon someone will be able to get it.

And as for the car goes. That kid had to been driving faster then 50. The front end is smashed up like it hit a tree or pole. And I bet he was talking on a cell phone. Remember that back in our day it was the radio that took up our attention. I guess if we think its bad now. Imagine what another 5-15 years what it will be like. Instead of a cell phone. It will be watching tv or on the computer while driving.

And Lee please tell Ivan to take his time when healing. He doesn't need to rush it. When I had surgery done a few years back I tried to think I could just throw the crutches and go on. Was I wrong. I was back into surgery weeks after the first one over me being stupid.

                                Get well soon!
