  • !!!ivan hospitalised!!!!!

I was heading out to Ivan's this afternoon to work on Thunderpig, when I had to pull over to allow an ambulance to go by. When I got to the turn off to his house, I saw his bike laying on the shoulder of the road, and a car with the front end demolished and the air bag deployed. I got to the emergency room and Ivan's wife said he was in the Cat Scan room. She asked me to check on his bike so I went back to the scene. Talking to the sheriff, it ssems that Ivan had slowed down to turn on his street, when he was hit from behind by a teenager at a speed of approximately 45-55 mph. I just now got a text message from his wife saying that he has no head injuries. He does howerever have a broken pelvis and that they are transporting him to Wichita KS to the
Wesley Medical Center for what I assume will be surgery. As soon as I have more information, I will let ya'll know what is happening.

    I can be reached @ 620-727-0425.

          update

shawna just let me know that ivan evidently has a bilateral fracture of the pelvis and a back fracture. they do not find any spinal injury. the doctors will decide monday whether he needs surgery. considering how the car looksw like it hit a telephone pole and the shaft on his bike is bowed up, he got real lucky.
she said ivan was not stopped when the car ran under him. he was slowing down to stop when he got hit. the fact he was moving probably saved his life.

I am going to wichita tomorrow afternoon to check up on him. will report back later.

God Speed. With a bilateral broken pelvis he'll be in a full lower body cast for 6 weeks at least!! Surgery would help speed up his recovery, but it is more risky, btu may be needed with the back injury as well!

                        Awful stuff!!

Tell Ivan and his family that we are defintiely praying for a speedy recovery and that all works well. Anything we can do, please let us know!!

Just took my daughter for her first driving lesson today, she is DEFINITELY going to learn to watch out for bikes as well as cars and to leave the frickin phone at home or tucked out of hearing and seeing range when in a car. Luckily she realizes how tough it is to drive.

It is very good that he was moving, most likely took ALOT of the force out of it for him. Gotta agree TC, hard enough to see us with all we can do, let alone making our lights small or darkened out. This is why I will not convert to those little bullet lights or that stuff.
