This could be a good thing. Yes they will total it out but they have to pay the going rate for an XS11 in that condition. Then they have to give him first shot at the salvage rights and he should be able to buy it back dirt cheap. Then the guys that are already going to help him fix it can do their work to get it back together. In the short run Ivan and his family will have more cash now and his bike back later.
Yes they will try to give him as little as possible but the best way to fight it is to have adds for other XS11 Specials like it for sale and print outs from ended eBay auctions for bikes like it. Once it's proven what the replacement cost is, they have to pay it.

Well I hate to say it but I bet the insurance company totals his bike out. They always do from what I hear. I don't have the details of his bike but anyone who knows for sure can do a Kelly Blue Book on it to see what its worth. Probably not much. Hopefully the insurance will stand up and pay what he has in it. If anything it will help fight the insurance so they don't short him on anything.

No Clue
Fanning507 and I went out to Ivan's last night. Shaunna has no idea what the insurance company is doing. The kid's company did contact her though, but I don't know what was said. Kim and I tried to get the bike into the garage but we are both old weak men and had to settle for tarping it up. Kim (507) and his dream Midnight Special rode about 60 miles round trip to help me and also look over the storm damage at Ivan's. 50-60mph winds two nights ago. Luckily all that needs to be done is chop up the downed limbs and haul them away. Kim and I talked about doing that on Saturday, the 27th. Anyone who wants to come to Hutch can help out then maybe we can cook out or something.

I went over to Wesley to visit Ivan today and he was moved to the Wesley Physical Therapy Center (or some similar name, no one's accused me of paying close attention) on 13th and tyler. I tried to make it over there but after getting lost twice my 11 started missing, so with that and it clouding up I decided to come home. I didn't want to get stranded across town with a dead bike. >< But aside from my bike problems I assume Ivan's doing better, the desk nurses said he won't be back at the hospital, that he'll be at the therapy place until they send him home.Leave a comment:

Update
Terri And I went to Wichita last night to visit Ivan. He is doing well. The had removed the IV's and have him on oral meds now(insert joke here). It looks like they will decide this week if he need to be moved to a "rehab house" (insert another joke here) for a week or so. His road rash is minimal on his right shoulder and a little worse on his right elbow area. He hasn't left the bed yet. They tried to get him in a wheelchair yesterday, but the pain was too much for that. On the whole, he was so lucky as to defy belief. I did tell him that the moratorium on jokes at his expense has expired and he can expect to catch living hell from all of us. We had a good visit and he seemed to be in great spirit, as Shaunna had smuggled him in a slushie from a nearby Spangles.
Fanning507 is riding in to my house tonight. He and I, along with my mean streak bitch buddy, Scott, are going over to Ivan's house and move his bike into the garage and get it under cover. Shaunna was able to get it home yesterday. We will also look into taking care of some storm damage they suffered two nights ago, down limbs in the drive and such. Note to the KC contingent: Ivan was good with you guys taking the bike, so whenever is good for you , it will be at his house.
As to the financial end of things. Ivan does have some AFLAC and Shaunna has returned to work, so it may not be as grim as we all were worried about. As I have never used a disability insurance, I don't know how much this amounts to. I suspect that some help may be needed in this area.
I am working on getting a laptop to him since his phone got upkefuched in the crash. That way he can get some on-line access and stay in touch.
I'll let you all know where things stand after I go over to his house tonight. Terri is going to get with Shaunna and see if the kids need anything.
