I got used to wearing my full face and now prefer it over the half helmet I used to wear. I am looking for a modular that fits well though.

I now mostly wear my modular helmet though, I do have a good selection of other types, should (personal) circumstances dictate an alternate style to wear.

While I used to wear a full face helmet, years ago, I tend to find them too restrictive in that the somewhat 'small' opening can be rather painful when trying to stick my fat head (no comments please ) through it, both when putting them on and taking them off. Also, with my claustrophobic tendencies, the rather 'limited' field of vision tends to exacerbate those feelings.

It is those 2 points which led me to the modular helmet which, is easy (and painless ) to put on and take off and, the field of vision (at least in the one I bought) is quite expansive.

I too, find it rather difficult to get a good fit and, when looking for a new helmet, went to practically every (appropriate) store in the area in search of the 'golden brain bucket' , with rather disappointing results. However, I 'took a chance' (based on their rather liberal policy of 'guaranteed satisfaction') on MotoDirect and purchased the EXL 708 model. A helmet that, from my point of view and experience, is not only well priced but, the comfort, fit and finish is extremely good. And, at the risk of sounding biased , their customer service is second to none. (My personal opinion, solely customer based, on my experiences and dealings with them. )

I'm looking at replacing my current *cheap but effective* helmet with one of these or similar : http://zoxhelmets.com/86-56000_en.html

When I tried it on, it fit rather well and was quite comfortable.

I got a new full face Seven0Seven for Christmas, and though it was a very inexpensive helmet, it works well. It fogs up a bit when the temps are below 35F, but so far it's ok. What I would really like to find is a full-face with the retractable internal sunsheild. I found a modular with the internal sunshield, but since my budget keeps me looking at the helmets that are less than $150, I think I just need to keep shopping.

Anyone else have experience with the internal sunshields?

                    Full-face, Shoei, W1.
My personal choice will always be a full-face. It is a bother removing my glasses to install/remove the helmet but it is worth it. I do not find any limit to my vision with any of the full-face helmets I have owned. There is no more limit than with a half-helmet or a turtle shell. Perifial vision is not obstructed and I can always turn my head side to side. I can also tilt my head up and down for a complete field of vision. There is the issue of being able to hear with a full-face helmet. I compare it to sitting in a car listening to the radio, so keep looking around. Since I began driving an 18-wheeler last year I have my own acronym for backing the truck and walking around truckstops...... H.O. A.S.S. Head On A Swivel Stupid. This applies to motorcycling too.
I looked into the modular helmets and decided agsinst them. Integrity of the lower (jaw) helmet is in the swivel pins.

I feel the individual should wear (or not wear) the helmet they want. These are my choices. I wear full helmet even when no helmet is required.

                              Zox for me too

                              Hey KJohnson,
My first helmet was the Azuma by Zox based on the excellent review they got in WebBikeWorld.com. Got it for $89 on fleabay. And then got a hankering for a modular and got the Nevado with the crazy graphics for $99 from the same vendor.
They are both super comfortable and let a lot of air though, ventilation being of critical importance for riding in So FL. Minimal fogging due to the well designed visor position detents which allow you to crack it just a bit (1/2" or so) in the first position. BTW - I have found no distortion on either of the visors I got for both the helmets. They a good solid deal and DOT approved. Unfortunately they don't make the Azuma anymore, it was a bargain considering the quality of the materials and workmanship.
                              My $.02 worth.
