I pointed my bike north on 1 and never saw you guys. U must of pulled off and hid somewhere. I ended up in Ft. Bragg

Hey Matt-
You flew by me flat out on 46 on a straight stretch around where we stopped to put on rain/cool gear the day before. Roo, Ray and Brandon were about 1/4 mile further down at a scenic turn out. I didn't see them either. When I went by they thought I was trying to catch you! Ha! HA, HA, HA, HA! (Snort!) Oh please! Well when yer doin' 130 you just can't take yer eyes off the road to look for fellow riders parked in turnouts, can ya? I can just see it: racing to catch up with us when we were actually behind you.
If I hadn't been in a limited area of cellphone reception when Ray called I wouldn't have caught up with them at "Ragged Point," up PCH pass San Simion.
Sorry you didn't make the ride with us, but I'm sure you must have had a good ride on your own without us old timers holding you back!

It was Epic, for me Ed! By the time I got close to Monterey, it was obvious I'd lost you guys for good. I figured the best thing I could do was take the opportunity to ride 1 as far as I could. I called dad from Half Moon Bay and made sure he was ok on his own, then continued on arriving in Ft Bragg about 9pm. Of course the scenery was breath taking, but the road was Encredible! Relentless, just the way I like it. Scraped up my foot pegs pretty good, and did a lot of passing. Left Ft Bragg about 8 this morning, rode 20 start to finish, and got home around 3

Returned home

Brant and I returned safely home to Colorado last night. First to arrive, last to leave.....

My odometer puts over-all mileage at about 2,700 miles. Brant shows a little less (2,545), but I live a little further east thatn he and did some additional running around.

I'll be posting a few photos in the next few days after I have time to go through the images I have.

My thanks again to LoHo for his work (and cooking!) for putting this gathering toghether.

That little rally was definitely a real hoot for me. Never been to that part of Cali and that stretch of PCH was awesome (and the ride too). On the way home had went around Jerry missin the 99 exit. So he just followed thinking I knew some shortcut. After a bit was headed up a nice long grade and temps were gettingreally cool and it felt good, so just kept going noticing mileage to L.A. was going down. When it said L.A. was 80 miles figured I maybe was going the wrong direction. Anyway, turned around back up 5 to 223 across to 99, following of course. No matter cause it's about the ride no matter where! The meals were great LoHo! Thanks. Sunday, Ray leading us up to Monterey was superb! Thanks. Roo and 3Phase........what a hoot. An all-around high five to a great bunchof XSer's!

Leg / foot is getting better, but we had to stop every 60 - 80 miles so I could stretch it out.

I've posted some initial shots at http://gallery.me.com/jerryfields/100110 and if a message comes up saying you should use a different web browser (Safari) just click on the button that says Use Existing Browser. Not all the photos are titled yet, I have to look up a few names. Note Page 1 of 3 near the top of the screen, click on the right arrow button to get to the next page(s). Also note the bottom left corner of the scren, try the Mosaic setting or Slide Show option to go through the photos. Clicking on any small shot will bring it up to a larger size.

I have left the download and upload options available for people whou would like a copy of any of the photos shown or would like to add their photos to this collection.

I regret to say that in my haste to get back to the campground Sunday night we did not stop for sunset photos. My bad, as it was a clear evening and the sunset was very nice.

I'll bd doing some final tweaking of the shots in the next few days.

Nice pictures! Thanks, Jerry, and I'm glad you took it easy going home -- no rush; no problems. Let's do it again!

Everything here's going fine: installed NOS brake pads yesterday from NWVintageCycleParts so the rear brake works and I changed the oil/filter. The engine still hadn't used any oil since leaving home Friday to go to the rally -- yay!

The oil I drained out looked pretty good for 700 mile break-in oil so I'll have to wait and see if changing it helps with the intermittant sticky 2nd gear problem. I still have to rustle up some riding gear for Kym so we can ride to San Diego tomorrow but that's just a minor technicality.

SHMBO and I had a GREAT time! I agree, LoHo is the official cook for all our rally's
I'm working on my web pages, but I have the start at http://rjmatteis.com/motorcycle/ . I hope to have all the good pictures up late tonight or Saturday night. I DID send Kat all the xs1100 pictures that showed just the bike. Special Ed, xsbobber, and my bike. I used the "Bixby Bridge" photo's for this.
Jerry, I DO have some 4 meg size pics of you and Brant, so let me know if you want the unaltered photos.

Nice job Ray!

You have some good shots there.
Note to self: next time don't relie on the "auto" setting, and pack some sort of reflector for those back lighted shots.
My humble attempts at photograpy are now posted along with my ride report along with Reffi's on the Ride Report page.
I don't have my film photo's back yet but my new daughter in law works for Bay Photo, and tomorrow is Fathers Day, so...
By the way Happy Fathers Day to all you fellow Dads!
