Alright! A SLO local that knows where to find inexpensive beer and the good bars.

We refer to our significant others as SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed). Its kind of an inside joke. Anyway, there is a history to the phrase, look it up on a search engine. Or look up the book "She" and the British TV series "Rumpole of the Baily" for more details.

        • I jyust wanted to "check in" as the rally date approaches. In anticipation, I had the battery in my load tested. It failed, so I had it replaced. (I just know the ultimate crap-out would have been on the trip.) I also had an early oil/filter change. SWMBO'S bike gets the oil changed tomorrow. Since there appear to be other photographers in the group, we'll probably bring along a camera, too. Maybe the photographers can ride drag and stop when we want to, then meet up along the route later?

To confirm connections, we'll be in the Motel Six in Paso Robles. My cel' phone is 714-801-5548. If all goes well, my helmet will be bluetooth (receive only) compatible by the time we make the trip.

That's OK, we knew what you wanted to say!
I'll be staying at the Atascadero Motel 6. It's about $10 per night cheaper, and a LOT quieter than Paso. I've heard WAY to many "strait pipes" at the 101 46 interchange to want to stay there.
My cell # is in the top right of my post.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                I've been riding since 1959.

                • Bad news...

I had a small incident this morning which ended up with my bike on its side. A car cut me off in a parking lot, had to lay it over (very low speed) to avoid a hit. Broke the driver's footpeg mount; I have already ordered a new one from Kawasaki, but the biggest pain is my right leg. Feels like I tore or stretched the back of the upper thigh. Hurts like hell. Had trouble riding the 28 miles home. This may put my attendance in jeopardy. I have about 10 days to see how the leg feels, will keep this thread posted.

                  • I'm in!! Scott, I'll be staying in the site you reserved. Dunno if the wife is coming yet. I'll be trailering the Cruise Missile so I hope I can find parking for the truck and trailer. It seems like good peace of mind to have it around in case something goes wrong.

Right on, Matt! Parking shouldn't be a problem and I reserved the group site because, well, there is supposed to be a group of us.

I'm waiting for the oil to finish draining out of my bike so I can re-check its transmission and I have ten days to fix it. No problem!

I have an appointment tomorrow at 11:00 A.M. with an orthopedic surgeon, will see what he says. If there is no real damage then I'll make it. Will have to stop more often to stretch the leg, but slow is better than not at all!
