  • Hi Phil sorry but I am appearing at the "Port Burwell Music festival" a fundraiser for the local school Sat and it is really really hard to ride with a bass strapped to my back not to mention where to put the amp.
although it is only about 75k to Port Dover

To morrow Friday is the 19th and I once again plan to ride to the Dieppe Memorial in Hamilton Beach.
Yes I know this is an old thread but perhaps the SOXS should ride again.

          • As planned I went Lovely evening for a ride. i took a country road route to get there so had very little traffic to deal with. arrived on site closer to 7pm but the sun was still shinning and the flags flapping in the breeze.
Every other year I have visited onthe anniversary there have been wreaths laid at the memorial. None this year ?
Any survivors of the raid would be in their late 90's
I exercised my freedom that they fought so valiantly to preserve.

            • Time to wake up (gradually) for the 2017 season. My XS11 project won't be ready to ride, but my 1981 BMW R100 is. Hoping to meet some of you characters in person this Spring and Summer.

I'm north of Toronto in Uxbridge.

              • Looking forward to it

                Hi Franks

I am in Stratford, and have met up with MaximPhil quite a few times last year. He is in Mississauga.

We try to find "middle" ground between us where the roads actually have some curves, unlike my neighbourhood where its all a grid of straight roads, fairly flat, and nothing but corn and beans to look at . The good part is there is little traffic, so I try to hang on to that positive angle when I head out for a local ride.

I think over by you must be good roads.

I look forward to meeting you and seeing your bike(s).

                • Hi Brian! There is a nice ride route along Lake Simcoe north of Keswick, but it's scenic only - 40km/hr zone. For speedier twists and turns we need to head north and east into cottage country.

I've driven out to Stratford a few times by car, and those roads are boring.

Is your CB350 a twin or the 4? The twin is the bike I wanted to buy while in high school but my father thought it too big for a first bike. The biggest bike he had in the old country was a BMW 250 single with a sidecar. I ended up with a CD175 twin.
I have a buddy, lives local to me, with a 350/4 (and a newish GoldWing.)

                  • It a Four

                    Its the Four (CB350F1)

I bought it as my 1st street bike at 16, think I had my bike licence before my car licence.

The 350 Four was a minor downsize from the Yak (360 MX) that had crazy power for a skinny 13 year old kid that I was, but I learned to respect the power in a nearby country field and also up in cottage country.

But the engine is silky smooth and the bike was faster in the city than my buddies with their 750 fours.

I ventured into Muskoka last summer and it was biker heaven. See my ride report http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45799

Planning to do some more this summer. We will have to do some route planning with Phil and any others. There are a few....seems there was an SOXS club before my time here and it may just be reviving

                        • Hey maybe the SOXS will indeed ride again
I have been away but am back online. Yes we can plan some local rides.
We will need to find a suitable meeting point. This will be a bit of a challenge as Tom is west and Frank over to the East. Orangeville? Other suggestions please.

                          • I'm not

healthy yet but this year I can make the bike show. Can we get some of the riders together to get a feel for the possibility of a rally this year. I will be ready to rock and roll in may. Working hard on the weights and the shoulder is coming along. Like to see hammy again if he could make it. After my close call last year, felt I wanted to sell them, but snow gives us time to re-assess and frankly, I couldn't stop riding even if I wanted to. Found a new insurance company that will allow me to insure all my bikes for what it was costing me to insure one before. So now every morning is going to be a lottery to see who gets out the door!
