If Santa Claus can read my handwriting I will be installing stainless braided brake hoses on my XS11SG and hooking up a genuine battery tender rather than charging the battery for a day every second weekend. Then the rig will sit in my heated garage until late April or early May when the roads are clear of snow and it's warm enough to ride even though the city streets will still have 50,000 tons of winter gravel on them to bring down the unfortunate riders who only have two wheels under them.

Well .. .I will make a real effort to get my hop-up 78 1100E ready for a spring lunch. That's a from the ground up rebuild. On the restored 79 1100F I will install the NOS wiring harness I scored along with a few other NOS parts and give her a good buffing :-)

I haven't even gotten the time to look and diagnose what is wrong with mine at the moment I drove it back after I found my cousin last month ( see my thread missing rider and bike). I drove it the 75 miles home and it was running like CRAP! I can see some oil leakage on the right side jug, and suspect I have a blown head gasket I need to tear into the whole damn thing as I couldn't get it to fire last weekend either.
The thing is woman has taken over my life An old girlfriend from 23 years ago found me online this last spring and to make a long story short, she moved in three weeks ago today. This is the first evening I have been able to get some time to post my thoughts. The downer is that the Special is going to be her ride, and now it is broke. I'm trying to convince her to let me bring it into the house so I can fix it right So far that line ain't working.
Needless to say I have alot of work to do this winter!!

Priorities, man! Shoulda waited on the move-in until AFTER the bike was fixed. That way she couldn't have told you to keep it outside.

Seriously though, congrats on hooking up after all this time. The internet is a wonderful thing, ain't it?

The 82 xj 1100 is done now after finding a 83 xj 1100 it is getting restored now so by the time spring gets here i will have twins to ride. am going to paint the fenders on this one and glass bead the rims and clear them a few other little things just to make it look a little differant. One of them may be up for sale or trade for a 80 xs 1100 (HINT HINT) Will post pics as i go on the restore or the 83

My one plan is to finish the FI project, and swap out the cams (again x2) to 70's cams. I also need to rebuild my clutch master/slave cylinders. Other than that, I would really like to get the painting done.

As far as what I'm doing with my XJ this winter. Rain, snow, sleet, or shine... riding it. As long as there's not packed ice on the road. I rode down to Texas this last weekend and left here while it was in the low 30's. The only other bikes I saw, were two M/C cops riding side by side going the other way.. and they actually waved back at me! The cooler weather keeps all the wanna-be bikers out of my way.

Good for you Todd! Riding is good for them. I plan to ride to Key West weekend of 2-7-09. See Rallies South east. If you come to ride with us, remember summer riding gloves & sunscreen.

The only thing I'm gonna do to the XJ is fix the Windjammer...seems like its vibrating the windshield too much.Gonna add alot more rubber to dampen the vibes.Other than that...i'll be staring at itBTW I moved the XJ into the house so I could be warm when working on it The XS needs nothing just put the battery tender on it.My ST1100 needs nothing and will see winter riding...given the roads are clean and dry

I am almost done repairing the vetter fairing on my XJ from a previous mishap. In case anyone is interested, 2 part epoxy will work on the vetter plastics. I had people tell me it wouldn't but I am stubborn and decided to try anyway. All I need to do is colorsand, polish, and install new windshield. If I get enough ambition I also want to change the paint scheme on the XJ.

The midnight special still needs some work and small parts but it is running and should be roadworthy by spring. It needs both MC's rebuilt, new brake pads all around, a new battery, new tires, and eventually some side covers.

As long as I have the XJ running as well as it is, I can take my time with the MNS.
