  • How long before you put your bike away?

With our members being located all over the world, I am sure the answers will vary, that and the fact that some of you folks are polar bears in disguise.

How much longer before you have to put your bike up for the winter?

Me...I've about had it. I know, I'm a wimp, but with leg injuries, riding in the cold is just not something I like to do.

Maybe I can finally get working on my XS1100SH once I put up the SG.

    Don

P.S. as my screenname says, I'm in New Hampshire.

          Never!!!

In Oklahoma we will have days in December that are nice enough to ride!

My Dad's hardcore....he will ride when it's in the 20's outside.

The only time mine will be out of commision is when I redo my lighting this winter.

I'm done now to - some days are actually warm enough to get her out of the garage, but not to and from work now it's just too cold in the mornings. I'm no wimp either but I've done my share of cold weather riding when I had to, I'm now fortunate enough to have 3 cars and a bike.

Mine never gets 'put away'. It just sits there, and anytime we have a nice day, I may take it out.

I have ridden all 12 months of the year, just not all months in the SAME year!
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I'm new to the whole bike thing, but I guess you could call me a "polar bear". I prefer the cooler weather, and since it rarely snows here in St. Louis, I hope to keep it running all winter, unless the roads are too icy. Since we only have one car and the bike, if I don't ride, I have to take my wife to work and pick her up at night. Since we both work less than 3 miles from home, that's not too bad, but it's nice for her to be able to just go home when she's done for the day rather than waiting for me.

                    Year round baby

Out here in Colorado it is normally fairly easy to ride year round as long as your on the front range not in the mountains. will be some days when snow will shut you down but not all that often, gets cold especially in mornings when dark but no humidity so 10 is like 30 on coast dress right and your all set

Hmmm...I just put the lowers on the Vetter this past weekend. Plan to ride a couple months yet. Won't ride below freezing, BTDT to many times, but will take it out afternoons even in Jan - April. Days get warm enough to get out for a couple hours in the afternoons.

In the mean time, will soon be on the Yamaha RX-1 snowmobile I upgraded to this summer. (stock photo, not my actual sled, but is same model / color.)

This sled is a Special Edition, mine has been upgraded with Simmons Gen III high-flotation skies.

Anyway, here is a winter road shot that still has good riding conditions. Taken last year, I think. This is comming into Durango from the north.

As a result, I never really "winterize" my sled. Some months I will only get out a couple times, but have ridden just about every month. Last year was an exception, didn't get out in March, had lots of snow that stayed on the roads. Snowpack was well above average.

Won't be long up here! I was out with ELDR on Sunday for what may be the last ride of the season. Woke up to frost on Sunday morning and an outside temperature of 21f. It was around 45f at noon when we headed out and I think the high for the day was 50f. It was cool but sunny. We were both dressed for it. Hopefully we'll get one last ride in but you never know.

i really haven't been riding. between frost on the roads when i leave for work and too much to do at home during the evening, the bikes only get to make some noise about once a week when i start them just to make sure. soon i will have to pull the batteries so they don't freeze.

                              Year around...

Here in NorCal it's year around though most don't ride when it's cold and wet. I do. The only time I don't ride is when (or where) the roads are icy.
