Good ride last fall, short but scenic and a little bit spirited...good combination with safety in mind always.
Thinking about a May ride to Madison In...leave early sunday, ride along the river, break at the dam

    lunch on the river
with a lesiurely ride back on some back roads...6-7 hour ride...just one suggestion.

Bill - I like the XS11 gal too, but she might get the bikes bunched up . Madison sounds good. Last time I was there I was delivering a couple of steel coils, around 1 a.m. on a Friday night/Saturday morning - gettin' empty for Monday. Didn't see much in the dark, but the roads were nice.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Well I think a mid or late january get together would be cool, met with Steppenwolf fans at Red Robin's burger joint in West Chester..right off I 75,just north of 275..forget the exit but we had a good time, good food and a couple of beers, but if ya know of a smaller non chain place that would be even better...a ma pa place.
Yeah Mat I did have a good time,I had to be some place after it but wish it had been longer but for a first time ride together...perfect..

DGX..what part of Cinci ya from? I am near MT. Rumpke...275&Colerain.

                  Bill,

Colerain here also!! Right on the edge of Green Township and Colerain. Blue Rock/275 and or Rybolt/74 exits.

                    Hi Don,

Welcome to the Cincinnati Area Owners thread. It's cool to see more and more of us popping our heads up around town, even you westsiders.

Looking at the weather for the next two days, I'm very tempted to squeeze in a ride or two, just so I don't get rusty.

Happy holidays to all and see you out there soon.

                        Eric,
Don't tell Bill but I am a transplant, grew up in West Chester back when it was corn, hogs, and cows. Now it is nothing but subdivisions of huge homes on postage stamp lots, and I can't even find my way around for all the roads they changed. Actually bought my XS11 from up in Mason area, could not recognize the roads for the test ride I took. Drove those roads for over fifteen years, and now I can't find my way around.

                        Bill,
Just bought it mid November. Here are a couple pics of it in the garage the night I got it home.

In pretty good condition, been workin out a few of the std kinks. Completed the Dremel fix for the gears, and now rebuilding carbs. Thinking I may want to check the valve lash, but waiting till I get this carb issue resolved. I wont be able to ride tomorrow though. But I got out for a few hours last Friday so I can't complain. I alos took off the emblems and painted them gold with some enamel model paint. So far they are holding up ok. Probably want to get some clear over though. Give me something to tinker with over the winter months.

That's a good looking ride! mine....not so much, I often describe it as looking like it was set on fire and rolled down a hill, but it runs good. I will be trying to do some aesthetic work on mine this winter, picked up a few things for her. Hopefully, it'll be looking a bit better next time the SWOXS bunch gets together than it did the first time. Again, you got a fine looking machine there, look forward to riding with you. have a nice day and ride safe

Thanks very much for the compliments. I am trying to get the few little things cleaned up on it. I spent alot of time cleaning the oil pan when I had it off for the gears fix.

Interesting thing I found that can perhaps add some clarity to the engine oil question that most newbie's like me have. On my left side cover inside, I found the factory emissions sticker that specifically states to use 20W40 'SE' rated oil. The fact it says nothing of MA oil speaks volumes to me about the entire motorcycle oil issue.

Anyway, I am sure yours looks fine Matt. Besides, all their gonna see is the tail light so, polish that up and they will think it looks great!

DG..we did a little XS ride this past fall..just a few of us..it is a start for the Cincinnati(southwest Ohio) riders to try and band together and maybe get a group ride just for the fun of riding with other 1100's..I know I had a good time with the other riders I met..I had a theme song also..first time I ever picked and lead a group.........

But that is because I have soft saddle bags I usually run..

                                Bill,
thanks for the compliment on the bike, yours looks very good also. You are the original owner correct? I read some of the info on SWOXS, and the threads on the trip. Sounds like a good time. I have never been on the ferries yet.

I believe most of mine is bone stock, with the exception of the now defunct Octy, and the seat. Only other things I have noticed is somewhere along the way some of the aluminum pieces got painted black like the final drive, and the foot peg brackets. Have not decided to pull and strip those though. I kinda like the final drive in black myself. Ohh and the handgrips.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting and hopefully riding with the SWOXS group. Looks like Markland Dam in the first pic at Madison? Lunch on the river looks like Riverwatch in Lawrenceburg perhaps?
