DG, the final gear does look nice painted black on your bike, yuppers I am the original owner, have put on almost all miles on it,Sis in law took it to her special needs class and it came back with thousands of tiny little finger prints on itHow many miles your new ride?Looks like it sat a lot.
Would like for our group to have get together to just chat a bit and maybe get a spring ride planned...if we do it on line that is fine also but lets do it..
Mat,Doug,Eric,Don....we are the beginning of a completely disorganized group of XS riders in the southwest ohio area..who knows it might grow to ten riders...
Don,the resturaunt is in Madison IN:-)..another dam picture

      Bill,
I would think it lived in a garage all of its life when not on a sunny day only ride. It has just under 24,000 on the clock now. Had ~23,450 when I bought it, I've put about 3-400 on it. Based upon the PO, I am the third owner, and the PO only had it about four months. The exhaust megaphones have a bit of rust on the inside by the rear wheel on each side, but it says Yamaha on it, so it is either original or a OEM replacement. I would say the dirtiest part of the bike is the underneath, and I got most of it cleaned up when I did the gears. I'll get some pics out in the light of day when I get it back together. I put some clear over the badges, they turned out pretty good for hand brush painted with Testors gold.

Been through Madison many times, but never stayed long enough to see the river part, always working when I have been there. I had a project at the hydro station at Markland when I worked for the power company years ago. Use to work for GEAA and we had an anual night time carp fishing contest at Meldahl.

Yes gentlemen, I think a winter meeting is in order. If for no other reason than it will get me out of the house for a while, I'm into it. let's figure out the who, what, when where (we already know the why) and do it. I don't care where, or when, just hope all can make it. makes me feel like springtime and riding season is almost here, hooray! have a nice day and ride safe

Is there any way to begin other than "disorganized"?

I say from the chaos, a group shall be born. And that group shall move forth on two wheels. And it shall be good.

I think we should definitely all get together to share some ideas and plan a ride or two. Our last get together was great, but we probably got to know more about the exhaust and brake light on the bike in front of us than the guy riding it. Just to throw it out there, my Saturday mornings are going to be tied up for awhile, but I'm pretty flexible other than that. Anyone know a good place they've been and want to share with others? I haven't been getting out much lately so I'm kinda out of the loop when it comes to interesting places.

Disorganized...ya gotta be kidding....it was the most well thought out planned event we ever hadwell our first...so you were the one staring at my exhaust:-)my brake light worked? We never got fast enough to hit third gear...remember I have a full fairing and saddle bags and not a sport rider.
Well for a get together this winter to plan a ride or two or to get away from the other half..from where we all live West Chester is about the middle grounds and the (Couple of us steppenwolf fans met here)the Red Robin..or something like that,a nice hamburger joint or if ya know a better place near where the VOA was...this seems like a central location for all of us.DGXSER is here in the west side and is close enough for him.
How about an early sunday afternoon....I will be gone feb12 to the 23rd..Bengals are not in the Super Bowl so I almost free any time..

Hope you guys get out tomorrow1/04 ,I will be,got out today and yesterday..
got my turn signals working so who ever is behind me if I don't have the rear will know where to go:-)cleaned all my conections, checked the bulbs and here it was my fuse not making good contact so it wouldn't blink without vibration....most problems are simple fixes.
Get together...I will only have one weekend tied up this month for a campout but don't have date set yet...lets try for our group meet here in january while we still are ansy to ride.

I'm in, someone pick a time and place, and I'll be there. Don't know the lay of the land down that way anymore, seems someone went and built a whole lot of stuff in all those fields that used to be all over that area. but if someone more familiar finds a good spot, I will find it also. been tinkering around with my bike a little, mostly aesthetic stuff, but tinkering none the less, should have everything dialed in well before early spring, and therefore should be a great riding season. again, pick a spot, I'll find it. have a nice day and ride safe

Hey..an old pic of my bike in AZ at sun rise:-)I was just getting started into touring

Think I took the picture in sept of '80..just threw the pic on my living room floor and shot again with the digital camera..not perfect but the XS and bits of chrome still turned out:-)
Never thought at the time I would still be riding the same bike but here we are..almost 29 years later from when I took that picture and trying to figure out when to have a get together with otherXS1100 riders
                  January 25th....West Chester,Red Robin Hamburger joint..don't ask directions..only been there once.Or my work garage,not heated,bunch of lawn mowers and trucks sitting around..275 & RT.27:-)

That is the Union Centre Blvd exit off I-75 North of I-275. Heading North to South turn left off the exit. It should be on your right. I think it is Mulhauser road it is on or near.

I will count myself as tentative. With two kids and SWMBO, nothing is final till the day arrives.

Sounds good to me. What do you guys think about 1 or 2 pm? By that time the church crowd should have settled down a bit.

Sounds good to me...seemed like the most central place to meet and if we all agree..we have a date and if lucky we can ride there:-)

Jeffe would like to make the run,he is from Westerville OH but has a full dresser 1100 and would like to make the actual ride...

Have Ragezero,a Kaw rider who would like to meet us at our get together

Since we have had no other thoughts yet on a spring ride..meet at the Wendy's in Miamitown,RT128 & 275..they have breakfast..take 128 to RT50 or just take 275 to Lawrenceburg IN to RT 50west,at Aurora pick up RT 56,take a short break at the river park, beautiful view of river.Follow 56 to 156,break at Markland Dam on the KY side.Ride to Madison ,check out river, don't know of any places in old town Madison to have lunch at,(let me look into this)I know if we kick up up RT 7 to new town Madison it goes to all the normal places. Then pick up RT 62east to some Norman Rockwell towns to RT 50 where we could go east or I know a few back roads to get us back to Aurora.....look at your maps...anything up your way Mat? Little traffic and smooth roads.
Just giving some thought to this...other ideas on a ride?

I don't know the neighborhood very well, but I've been down some great roads in KY. More specifically, I think it was RT 10 and some of it's offshoots and parallels headed East and South. I had reason to head out that way several times a few years ago and I remember beautiful country roads with light traffic and plenty of ups, downs, lefts and rights. It would make a great spring ride, I'll have to take a look at a map to jog my memory.
