  • The OTHER 30th Anniversary Patch.

    Hey folks,

Now that the first 30th anniversary patch has been done, made, and sold out so as not to cause the designer/fabricator any financial hardship, I am now re-introducing the "other" design for consideration.

Due to the desire to preserve the detail in the design, it has been determined that a WOVEN patch vs. an embroidered one will need to be made...a little more $$, but not much!

The size will be 5" wide by 4" high/tall again in an attempt to preserve the details. The following images can be D/L'd and printed/formatted to that size at your home to get a better idea of how it would look as an actual patch!

ALL of the grey colored parts/areas of the bike would be done in a metallic silver thread to simulate chrome and polished aluminum, and the yellow lettering, tuning forks, and XS Eleven logo in the lower section would be done with GOLD metallic thread. The patch will still have the raised embroidered border.

THIS IS THE FINAL DESIGN. But "we" have 2 choices of background color. Either White or Yellow. Here are the arguments.

White: Clean look, not as clashing with the rest of the Vest/Jacket that it would be sewn onto!

Yellow: Official Yamaha Yellow; it provides better IMHO contrast to the metal parts that will be done in metallic silver thread...ie. handlebars, pipes, etc.; brings out the yellow piping of the tank/side covers/seat cowling; and it DOES stand out....isn't that why we wear patches...so show them and be seen/noticed?!

Perhaps you can tell I'm in favor of the "YAMAHA" Yellow background!

    So.....please cast your votes accordingly!

      Yellow is my choice too!
You had said silver thread for the silver parts of the bike. I think the white background will wash out the silver.

Hey TC .. I think the yellow is a little over powering. I like the simpler white back grounded version. I'm good for 2 of which ever is chosen as the one to go with.

                the great "patch" consipiricy......

hey there topcatgr58....i like both designs, but the yelllow background would make the silver thread "pop" out and be more noticible....i know i get looks wearing the "other" patch on my leather......was at a local "bike nite" and one dude came up 2 me and called me the "XS Dude!!".....now go figure on that one....1000 harleys and i'm the "XS Dude".......yellow is my choice.....talk 2 ya later....ross

                  Writing gotta match

                  Hi T.C.
Yellow writing & yellow background is OK
White writing & white background would be OK too.
I'd go for either with a mebbe 10% bias towards yellow.
But your top example with a white background and yellow writing looks like someone forgot to colour the background.

                    OUCH ! ! !

Should have watched where the picket went

                    Hey T.C.!

                    Great Job!!!

As you can no doubt surmise from the above, I like them both, as well.

However, I tend to agree with Rob-79XS11F, the Yellow is a bit over powering and, it's the bike that we're celebrating... not the 'Yamaha Yellow'.

So, I guess that means that I'm leaning more to the right, uh... white - makes the bike stand out more.

                    Either way, I'll take !

Only 24 ppl have voted thus far...while white is ahead only by 3 votes over yellow....So if this is the total net vote then it really is too close to call...how 'bout doing half a run in yellow and the other half in white? If that dont work then you'll just have to decide by majority rule and the rest of us will go along with it...I think..I know I am good regardless of the color so lets get this off the ground before '08 is over already
