First off, John please give that salesman my a nice golf clap for me. There are not many people willing to sacrifice the commission to tell an idiot the truth. My guess is his boss was quite unhappy with his candor. I personally favor a graduated licensing system so you have to learn how to ride before you get on a crotch rocket or a Hardly touing bike.

I have to confess that although I do not even own a pair of sandals or flip flops I love riding in shorts, tee shirt and sun glasses. I do accept the risk. I have medical and life insurance. I will say that I actually don't mind the helmet anymore. When I was young it drove me nuts.

I saw a nice variation over the "No shirt, no shoes, no service" in Orlando...and yes I was visiting Disney World with my family. There a tourist trap had a brass sign reading "For your safety please keep your shoes and your shirt on". I really didn't understand what the ?#"! shoes and shirt had to do with safety. I actually thought they were afraid that people would catch a cold. Of course my all-knowing father explained that they didn't want their shop filled up by ugly half-naked tourist on a buying spree.

Talking about light-weight protective gear my brother bought one of those jackets that mostly resembles fishing net with protective padding all the right places.
First day with good weather he goes riding all day and when he took of the jacket, he had a really funny looking sunburned fish-net pattern on the back, chest and both arms

I wondered about the sun with one of those. I would like to try one but I am too cheap.

On my way home from work the other day, some fellow pulls up next to me on a naked Honda sport bike, he's wearing jeans, a tore up t-shirt, and safety glasses. He looks over at me in full face lid, jacket, and gloves says "aren't you hot?" I nod, pause and say "rocks hurt at 70 mph". he nods and says " got you". light changes, we both ride off on our respective ways. saw him yesterday, same get up, I guess it'll take a rock at 70 mph to learn him. have a nice day and ride safe

I was out riding today, and I stopped on the way home at the grocery to pick up some dinner. As I am getting my wallet out of my backpack a young'in comes out of the store wearing (you guessed it) shorts and flip flops. His purchase consisted of a 6 pack of beer and a bottle of liquor. He heads over to his crotch rocket and rides away holding the bag by pinning it between his gut, tank and legs.
