Um, do you US citizens have RRSPs?
You shove money into it and don't pay taxes on the payments until you start drawing it out, hopefully after you retire.
One great advantage is that your boss can opt to match the employees payments rather than setting up a company pension fund. The major benefit of this is that when some offshore bastard takes over your company, sends the jobs to Guatemala and sells the factory to be bulldozed to build a shopping mall, at least they can't loot the pension fund.

That's what a 401k is, Fred. Pensions are nearly nonexistent in the U.S. anymore. Unless you work for the government, that is.....

Unless you work for the government, that is.....
In my little town of Hayward, OVER 30 percent of the cities employees make $100,00.00 plus. This is in a city that has one of the lowest citizen income levels in the entire Bay Area.

Government salary/benefit negotiations are done behind closed doors in secret. The citizens who have to pay them have NO input. This is standard procedure in all government agencies.
Personally think any tax paid employee making double or more than the average tax payer makes should not receive any tax paid benefits. There making more than enough to pay there own. Also there is no incentive to keep benefit expenses down, after all it’s just taxes the citizens have to pay. When they do have to disclose there income they do not include what the benefit package costs. If you have political connections in the US, you get to jump right up to the top 5 percent income level without earning it and don’t have to face the responsibilities and risks of working in the private sector.

          Hey Wes,

Yeah, I realize the kind of earnings that same amount of $$ would make, and so this is a reason for PRIVITIZING the retirement process. But then you have to pay someone for handling it, and handling the $$....processing the withholdings from your paycheck and funnelling it into the retirement fund.

But as has been said, once this thing has been running for decades, it'll be very hard to revamp it, cause somebody has to pay for those already enrolled and vested in it!?

MRO, don't get me started on Fed/Govt. employees. I'm pissed at all of the Reps/Senators.....one term in office and they get a free pass for life. Have you seen the retirement income they get!

Well, actually, it could easily be handled by the employers that already do the processing for the SS taxes and witholding and also the same for most companies already existing 401k's.

Why bring the government into it at all? If I read it correctly, that's a part of both Ron paul's SS plan as well as Fred Thompson's. Slow migration of the SS tax into a private fund over time.

I can dig the statement about the Blood Pressure though. Every time I think about all the money that I've pissed into the SS black hole mine goes through the roof.

In a little over 10 years of 401k I've already massed nearly double what I have in 20+ years of SS taxes. And I contribute less to my 401k each check than the government steals from me.....

I read through his stuff and seems solid for the most part. The only thing I disagree with him on is the Iraq war. I still think it is and was a good thing.

Having a base in the middle of the middle east is vital to protecting our interests in the region. Both economic (oil) and security (crazy ass Muslims).
I didn't see any alternative for an energy policy other than tax credits for wind generators etc... neither my car nor my bike uses a sail.

I think the initial cost of this war we're experiencing now would pale in comparison to what it would cost in the future.
How much would WW2 cost in todays dollars?

Make that 12 plus permanent USA military Airbases along the pipeline going to Israel costing Billions of Dollars.

The reason for this is the USA aircraft carriers have no defense against Iran's newest cruise missile that can hit in 5~8 seconds at Mach 2.5.

20,000 Military men and Women dead now. 100,000 or more permanently mangled. The death toll is a USA Government lie as you are only listed as dead from Iraq if you die before the choppers lift off. 122 suicides a week now from returning USA military personal. It's just not worth it.

I've gotta mention that Ron Paul refuses to participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He's never voted himself a pay raise. His office returns a portion of their budget to the treasury every year. And so on and so on.

If anyone says he's just another politician, you're simply uninformed. I challenge anyone to find *any* dirt on the guy. The deeper you dig, the more you'll like him.

Not too long ago I used to tow the Republican line on the war myself. I felt like a "bad Republican" unless I supported it. ;-) But gradually I came around, mostly after researching Islam and gaining a better understanding of the people and their motivations.

The problem is, as Reagan said, "the irrationality of mid-east politics". They are indeed crazy Muslims, and they don't want democracy. Whatever we set up will be gone within a few years and a new despot will rise.

And as Ron Paul says, we're paying for bombs to blow up their bridges, then paying to rebuild them again, while our own bridges are falling down. We simply can't afford it.

We had bogus reasons for going in and we're not accomplishing anything of lasting value while we're there. We've got no plan or specific goals to accomplish before we get out. The longer we stay the more we piss of the folk over there and the stronger the terrorist organizations become. There were no al-Qaeda over there when we went in, now they're all over the place. We're just strengthening their resolve and increasing their recruitment and funding. It's called "blowback" and it will come back to haunt us.

Keep in mind Ron Paul is not an isolationist, he's a non-interventionist. He believes in a strong national defense, and that starts with not pissing off the rest of the world on a regular basis!

By the way, although Ron Paul was against the war from the beginning, he is so principled he actually introduced a Declaration of War to Congress so that if we were going to do this thing, it could be done Constitutionally. Of course the crooks and liars in Washington DC would have none of that...

He also presented a Marque and Reprisal act to Congress, which is how the Constitution provides for dealing with a situation when a precise declaration of war is impossible due to the vagueness of the enemy. If we'd done it the Ron Paul way, we might have actually caught the bad guys WITHOUT alienating the rest of the world and spending billions of dollars and thousands of our brave troops' lives.

If a person reads the bogus 9/11 commission reports you will soon discover along with many others such as Ron Paul that the terror was from the inside.

Loose Change Final Cut proves this.

Being an Aircraft Mechanic I have a hard time understanding how a 757 can fit into a 14 foot opening in the Pentagon. Also a 757 can't make a 180 degree turn at 10G's and still fly.....LOLOLOL

The windows were not even broken out where they say the Turbine engines hit. That is one tough piece of glass I guess...LOL

The Government must think we are all stupid to believe such a ridiculous story such as this...LOL

The passenger list was all high ranking military officials and NO bodies or plane wreckage was ever found....LOL

So the bottom line is Dr. Ron Paul was right.

WHOA! Back the misinformation train up! We need to set the record straight here.

Ron Paul is NOT a 9/11 conspiracy theorist type. Nor are the majority of his supporters.

Ron Paul believes our foreign policy is causing "blowback" and providing much of the motivation for terrorists, including the 9/11 bunch. He believes if we stop aggravating and insulting the rest of the world by intervening by force in the affairs of sovereign nations, we might have more friends instead of enemies who want to blow us up.

Nothing conspiratorial about it. Just a different opinion on policy. It's common sense, and it's measurable by comparing pre-war Iraq and present day Iraq (among other things, I'm sure).

You have disrespected one of the most intelligent, well-informed, and level-headed men in politics. I sentence you to several hours hard research.
