My hope too, is the end of this war soon. Not sure how it can be done, but it's a waste of lives, time and money that could better be spent at home, in my humble estimate..If only we had leadership that was looking to the not so distant future when we will wish we had spent our money on an alternative to this dwindling supply of addictive black poison we're all fighting over..or about to be fighting over.

It's the reason I retired when I did, instead of staying in.

Still I do respect and thank the troops, and we are getting far more than we deserve when it comes to the caliber of soldiers we have.

I'd like to thank my brothers and sisters who still serve, some think what you are doing is unpopular, but I'd bet my bottom dollar that the average Iraqi is plenty happy not to have Saddam to worry about and even the media here is pointing out that the "Insurgents seem to be running out of people to kill". I think it may be that the insurgents are just running out of insurgents. Good Job.

If we (you) don't stand up and take the measure from those who would kill us roughshod, they will continue to do so. IMHO, we were attacked because we projected weakness in the past. To use our Cold War turn of phrase, the best defense is a good offense.

A solemn salute to our lost brothers and sisters and a hearty cheer for those who keep us safe at night. God Bless

I'm one of the few who couldn't serve for medical reasons. My heart felt thanks goes out to those who served and are serving. Along with thanks to their families for their sacrifice. Now if we can fix a system where our service people don't have to be worried about their families being put out on the street we will really pay them the respect they deserve.

U.S. Army 1995-1999. Bosnia "peace keeping" 1995-1996. I feel guilty only serving during peaceful times but 4 years is all I could muster for Uncle Sam. The opressive management style of the military did not suite me, lol. Much respect to all the war veterans and peace time veterans.

                            Many thanks to ALL Veterans

Well, I've never "served". I often reflect on the training and skills that I could have missed out on; ESPECIALLY here recently.
On Sept. 22nd, I lost my "favorite" AND most respected Veteran, to a bout with cancer; my Father, a Vet of WWII, passed away.
In WWII, Dad learned to weld, welding on gliders, and later become a certified welder. Right up to the end he was an ace mechanic and welder.
Dad was the one who got my "feet wet" in underground coal mining. Dad was also a certified electrician, certified Mine Foreman/Fireboss, certified shot firer, retired underground coal miner, --- --- ---- ---- and the list goes on. Dad also loved farming and raising beef cattle after "retirement"
At the age of 17 Dad lied about his age and enlisted in the army during WWII. I can only presume that through the military, at his early age, that he got his "initiative" and acheived goal after goal through out his life.
Dad also got my "feet wet" with motorcycling; when at the age of nine yrs. old I got my first bike, a NEW Honda trail 50 and Dad got him a NEW Honda 125 trail bike to ride along with me.
If I only had a scanner, I'd share a picture of Dad and his '46 Harley. He'd ride this bike from 1950 thru 1955 from Akron, Ohio back to central WV to visit his parents. 'Must have been some road trip during those early times.

ALL you Veterans have my total respect and MANY thanks. May you pass on to YOUR children the values that my father passed along to me.

Greg, certified Mine Foreman/Fireboss, Certified Shot Firer, Mine Surveyor, Mining Engineering Degree ['82], underground coal miner and equipment operator since '83, Motorcyclist since '69.
