I'll try to take a look around in the attic tonight. I gave a couple sets of those away a year or so back. I know I have a pair for an '80 STANDARD, that I will never use, but I'm not sure If I have another extra spare set for a Special.

Your carbs are probably not in as bad a shape as you think. Even if they were left sitting with fuel in them they are likely going to be RELATIVELY easy to get back in order. Replacing needles & seats whenever your cleaning a set that's not been properly maintained is a HIGHLY recommended replacement (with OEM Mikuni parts). Otherwise, I'd bet your carbs will be fine with a good bit of cleaning. The carbs from my FZR1000 sat full of gas for more than six(6) years before I got the bike. Inside they looked like some sort of science project. After a thorough cleaning, I had to replace only the main needles as the tips had rotted off of them. Otherwise, with a set of new bowl gaskets they are running perfectly today.
The spare full banks (4) I have are NOT ready for immediate use. They have NO broken parts (posts), no stripped threads, no broken off mixture screws, etc. But they all probably need at least a LITTLE cleaning and a bit of reassembly.
The few times I have provided carbs to others, those guys have had their carbs with broken off the float posts, snapped off the mixture screws, or horribly screwed up the pilot jet threads (or similar major issues). Dirty or neglected carbs are almost 100% salvageable assuming someone hasn't really broken them.

Adolph,
Unfortunately, I don't have any front fenders in good shape.
I'll give you a suggestion though..... I have an XJ650 front fender on one of my XS11 Specials.... IT FITS PERFECTLY! There were a lot more XJ's than there were XS11's so that's a good option and much less expensive than one you may find from an XS11. There are some MINOR differences, The XJ has a built-in fork stabilizer although certainly not as good as some of the aftermarket stabilizers it is better than nothing. The brake hose holder brackets from the XS are not the same and as a result of the built in steel reinforcement you would need the XJ's little hose brackets.
If that bike wasn't buried behind five others I would take a pic to show you.....
Sincerely,
Kurt

What I was thinking is to have a "projects carbs" and just do a switcheroo once I manage a trip to up north.
Well during Xmas I went to see Santa and also realized that maybe I'll just take disassemble the set and go to see a guy with a ultrasonic bath and hope the rubbers (slide) are in good shape,
I did open the bowls and there was no significant crud there, emulsion tubes are probably blocked as I did manage to start it but it run like a ...
Let's see when the sun comes up again here---
