It didn't sell, I may still have a shot at getting an immaculate ride yet.
FWIW, I paid $2,900 for my Special and managed to ride it 100 miles before it stopped starting on the starter and I parked it. That doesn't count the $1,100 I paid to have it and the MNS brought down from upstate NY and MA.
I'm not going to whine because it's to late for that, I just need to rebuild/repaint it and move on. The nice thing is though I rebuilt a 12'x16' metal shed and insulated it so I have room to park all my bikes out of the weather. Somewhat cramped but doable.
Now to contact him and see what kind of deal we can work out and time for me to see how much I can get for several items I no longer use on Craigs List.

Bohn is a great guy. Doubt you will find another bike in this good of condition again.

Both the XS's I have were over priced as purchased on EBay.
The 79 Special was promised to be 'Ready to ride this season' with 'minor' issues easily fixed. Yeah, didn't quite work out that way as it's been sitting with just over one hundred miles and a single tank of gas through it after I got it tagged and insured.
The MNS was last said to have run in '11, at least the FL tag indicates that.
I figured I'd ride the 79 Special and rework the MNS, plans changed, life goes on, slight change in the trajectory.
Anyhow, not whining, just agreeing that Bohn's bike is really one of the best examples of what the XS should be and I'm shocked it didn't sell. If I had the cash it would have, and yes I'd have bought it with a last second bid.
I tossed him an email, maybe I'll still get the opportunity to buy a really nice ride.

Gmac,
If you can swing it, this is an exceptional XS.
One thing to keep in mind I think is this...
If you really want an XS that's a naked original, search until you find one.
But if you want an XS that's setup and ready to long-range tour... then this is it!
Plus, this one is, w/o a doubt, THE cleanest example on the planet!
It's well known and documented here that Bohn takes exceptional care of his things, and this has been at the top of his list.
For those that ride with Bohn, regardless of pressure, he rides smart, and on the conservative side.
Bohn IS a great guy. He's the real deal. When we first met, he was friends with Cody, and Cody introduced us. I had just bought my Maxim from Miles Baker, and Miles had done a lot of work restoring it, but it still had a severe oil leak, and needed the entire transmission rebuilt. Bohn didn't know me from Adam, yet drove all the way from Kansas to Stillwater (5hrs.) and worked on my bike all weekend to help me get it going. Tod did the same coming from southern Okla, and I didn't know him either. This blew me away, that they would do this, not just for a guy they didn't even know, but because they loved the XS that much!
Being able to be Bohn's friend has been a tremendous blessing, and I will always be eternally grateful for that. You won't find a better friend! He and I have ridden many miles together, and I love traveling with him. He's a blast! He's not just incredibly smart, but he's very wise. He's taught me a lot over the years, (not just about the XS) and he's one of the few left that has a lot of common sense.
I have been very blessed to meet many people here, and I don't know how I got by before I met them! Great bunch of family members I have here! I'm very blessed.
I was surprised that there wasn't a big race at the end to own this beautiful example of an XS, but I believe things happen for a reason. Not sure why it didn't sell, just yet... but it'll be interesting to see how it ends.
Whoever gets it will definitely win a great prize.
Bohn deserves it. I hope he can sell that bike to one of you who shares his vision of what the XS should be. There won't likely be another one like it. Building your own will be prohibitively expensive.

and we are negotiating, or rather I told him I wanted it and he said he'd set a price and when I had the funds he'd meet me in W KY with the bike so I wouldn't have to drive out to Shawnee, KS.
Next time you see that bike I hope to be the one in the seat riding it.

Well, cool! Hope it all works out!
+1 on what Brant said! How could I possibly have not mentioned that, too?
(And with the price of Plexxus these days, it's even sweeter! Lol )
