Well, there is a point. If say, someones parent who was helping out with rent or something because one was out of work or something, and one had a bike that was not having any money spent on it, but was seen by others (not the wife, but others) as unnecessary, but they didn't know what they were worth, but insisted that you had to try and sell it, I know *I* would put an unrealistic price on it. I know what someone suggested that I needed to at least TRY to sell my Camaro, I put it on craigslist for about 60% more than what I figured it is really worth, but what it would take putting in my pocket to get me to give it up . It just might be that this is the case here. Someone told him he needed to try and sell it, so he put it out there is an unrealistic price that it would never sell for, and if it did, it was for an amount that he could grudgingly let himself give it up for. Combine that with offering cell phone pictures if someone wants to see it, it feels like he's doing everything he can to NOT sell the bike. The description alone certainly didn't describe a $3500 bike, or even describe it like he even THOUGHT it was a $3500 bike.

      cywelchjr: you're on point with that . . .

Cywelchjr, your explaination makes good sense. I really could see myself doing just that sort of thing, if those were my circumstances. However, in doing so I should expect to be heckled by the locals of the forum on which I am posting my fake "for sale." DGXSER, I'm not trying to bust your chops bro, but why are you so sensitive on this subject? We're not being rude, just calling a spade a spade. If Runningbear actually was a serious poster, he would have replied and we would have helped him get the best value for his scooter.

      I'm done here . . .

I think he's a little sensitive cause he was almost forced to sell his after his accident (ok, he was ready to sell it on his own I think, but then he had second thoughts, but SWMBO was not thinking along the same lines, which I can't blame he what with having to come to the hospital when he wrecked the other one). Of course I'm just guessing here, but I'll bet if he gets rid of this one he won't be able to get another (or it will be a tough sell).

You know, I just payed attention to the title of the thread. I'm beginning to think there IS more to the story than we know on this bike. There is some reason the price is so high, and I do believe it's intentional, and I don't think he wants the bike to sell, and I'm not sure that he's even come back to check the thread either.

If you understand the title of his post please let the rest of us know Again, why would you list it for sale on this forum if you don't want to sell it? Are you suggesting somehow he's" required by law"
to list his bike for sale (maybe divorce?) If so couldn't you just list it anywhere, Ebay, Craigslist, penny shopper, ect...why bring it to the "family of xs'ers" if you don't intend to sell? The ONLY reason to bring it here is he thinks someone here is more likely to appreciate the model and BUY it. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Title of thread "bought out of a nasty feud", so either he is selling it for someone else who he either has to pay them what he sells it for or can pay them some low price if it doesn't sell, or because of said nasty feud is being required to attempt said sale. Trying to sell it to those who know what these bikes are worth, with the description given, would pretty much scotch any possibility of a sale of said bike, but someone who didn't know better might now know that, where an ad in the paper or on craigs list might find someone who didn't know better who might buy it anyways.

See, those who know better, won't pay a whole lot more than something is worth on the open market. Especially if your careful to describe it in a way that makes it clear it's not in pristine condition, as in saying it shouldn't bring top dollar while trying to sell for MORE than top dollar. But on the open market, some fool just might snap it up cause a sucker is born every minute. It just may be the guy is crazy, crazy like a fox.

PS, it's been on here like over a year and posted 8 times, and it LOOKS like the post about the bike was the last time he was on.

Elevener, that sure qualifies as a snarky comment. I bet neJeff feels better now, for your solo post redirect. Do you hunt snipe professionally, or just on these forums?

Look at this three page thread about a guy selling his bike and ask yourself about it. And him saying he wouldnt miss a member who simply placed an ad is ok with you right?

                      how we have digressed . . . .

Are you saying you will miss Runningbear? Send him flowers, dude. neJeff wasn't being hostile or antagonistic. Runningbear hasn't been a solid contributor to these forums, hasn't replied once (NOT ONCE) to the thread he started. So his demonstrated commitment to what he started is obviously not there. He ain't missing us, so should neJeff weep for him? Come on dude. Lighten up.

I can do that but can I ask why? This is a forum right? People are still interacting and I kind of thought that's what an open forum was for. I guess it's kind of run it's course as far as points of view go but we all know another one just like it will pop up again... probably sooner than later.
