Are there any campgrounds in the vicinity? I'm cheap (poor ). A couple nights tenting it would be doable. Slept 3 (or 4?) nights in Sids backyard with 25 other XSives and it was great...... even the night it rained and I found my tent leaked.

Yes Pat, I've stayed at a campground at Zephyr Cove on the Nevada side. $30 a night for a drive in site. Fallen Leaf is cheaper. Either one will be about 5-8 miles from the Days Inn.... This from www.explorer1.com
Days inn reservation # is 1-800-350-3446. We'll be riding Sat. the 3rd. thru Mon. the 5th. So you'll need to probably reserve Fri. night the 2nd, thru Sun. night the 4th. We'll only be doing a half day ride on Monday so some of us will be home Mon. night. For those coming from farther away this allows the opportunity to get a cheaper place on their way home.

Speaking of beaten path...where is the nexus of the Rally? Is there a central location, a place where everyong stands around with a beer and a cigar and checks out the wide variety of bikes that attend? My wife is currently building up her tolerance to cigars even as we speak...

Well, I was thinking that most of us would want to stay in a motel, and the Days inn is in a decent spot. It has about the most reasonable rates I could find. This is also easy to find, and about half way across the south part of the lake. So riding in and out from either direction will be about even. There is a Carrows across the street. But if I find out I got a bunch of party guys, we'll opt for a resturant in one of the Casinos (smoking sections) for at least Friday night. We have to get together so we can go over the details of our rides. We'll also meet for breakfast Sat. morning (probably Carrows). After that, evening hangouts will kinda be up to majority rule. I'm sure that a few people are gonna want to do different things. It's hard to say when you don't know anybody.

I just got my bike back today, and I am STOKED!!! Thanks to TopCat58, who is a lifesaver!!THANK YOU TC !!!!!!!!
I just saw TopCat in NY at XSeast 2005 july 4. He is doing great as is Godzilla, (running strong). He carried his 78 yr old mother on our 150 mile ride through back roads and twisties, did the limbo through the cave tour, dissassembled his led lights for demo, and he was so considerate that he kept his wheelies sorta low and smooth so his mom would not get whiplash. An XSivly great guy.
Happy motoring,

We're there...Days Inn, September 2 & 3, my wife and I. We may ride up Highway 49 through the Gold Country for scenery and to avoid the Hwy 99 truck traffic.
Who else is in on this? Is Pat Kelly putting on the campfire scene (you're welcome, buddy!)
