I probably won't make it this year. I plan to head east to Ohio for the XS East Rally, which ends on Memorial Day.

SWMBO and I will be taking some extra time off for that trip, as there are memorial services scheduled for my father on Memorial Day, and for my father-in-law, who passed away this past Friday. His ashes will be interred the day after Memorial Day. I was not close to my father-in-law, but SWMBO wants to be there with the rest of her family for the internment. Ceremony will be in central Wisconsin, and of course I am in Colorado. The plan is to go to the rally, drive up to Wisconsin, then back to Colorado. Its going to be a long trip.

If the Cali Rally is held later in the year I might be able to make it.

The rally doesn't have to be in June, does it? Almost anywhere in California is a day trip for me but June isn't carved in stone so where and when can the most people make the rally?

We could try the Coarsegold KOA or camp at Bass Lake instead of the messed up KOA in Butterfly that hassled us, then take the ride up Hwy 41 to Yosemite that most of us didn't get to finish because of the fire.

              Any updates, Scott?
I am planning a trip to Seattle this summer, and would time it to take in a Calirally, if I only knew when that was.
              Thanks, CZ

                Captain Zap,

Howdy Zap,,,longtime no see since Colo. rally, if we dont get a rally going this summer post what time could work for you and we can round up a few members for an impromptu get together, ride, camp when you are available to ride into S.Cali. I am hoping for the rally to be in July, but we will see. Anyway, let us know what works for you............Mike in Sun DIego

                  Howdy Mike,
Sounds like a plan. I probably will wait till after the Fourth, to avoid the looneys, but that depends on a number of other folks' schedule.
Thanks for the invite, and I will let you know when the itinerary firms up.

Cap, it's still early but I think some people are broke (me!) or burned out (not me!).

I'm going for a day ride with 'Roo tomorrow and we're going to take a map and throw darts at it to see what we can find. Hopefully it'll be something that'll let as many people as possible make it to the rally without breaking the bank and they'll be able to have fun instead of feeling like they survived Bataan.

                      Cali Rally

I'm glad I checked the site. Good to hear there's impetus for another rally this year. Also glad it's not gonna be in June, as we have to fly back East for a wedding. July or August would be good for us. I have two weeks more vacation this year so time off, for me, at least is not a problem. Vicki will have to check her schedule. Worst case would be that we'd leave Friday noonish.

As to places to go: Check out Lake Isabella. I know other bike groups go there and I believe there are both camping and motels available.

Anyone with nothing to do the weekend of May 18 -20, there'll be a contingent of N. Cal. bikers in Paso Robles (mostly crotch rocket types) to ride the roads there, especially route 58.

As you may have guessed, I'm not putting on the show this year, as I am currently bikeless. If you guys get something going this summer, let it be known and I'll see what's up. Lake Isabella is not a bad plan, especially if we have some fishermen.

I'll miss seeing you guys, but we'll get it together soon.

Loho, so glad to hear from you!

I was just thinking about posting a query about you!
This is something I have given a fair amount of thought to. I propose a rally here, a little bit south of Santa Cruz, on the Central Coast. There is a KOA campground south of The Peoples Republik of Santa Cruz that is literally a stones throw from the Pacific ocean. DiverRay and I are very familiar with the back roads in this area, and between the two of us we could map out a very interesting ride through the bucolic, pastoral back roads of Corralitos, Aptos, Freedom, and more.
My idea, is that in the past trying to do a group ride just doesn’t work for some people. I really enjoy it myself: I think it adds an enjoyable dimension to a ride, but I suppose it is an acquired taste. I want to map out a route that riders can follow alone ,or with one or two other riders; a mid point stop for lunch, followed by another 30 to 50 miles ending back at the camp site where we will engage in consuming mass quantities and swapping lies. I cannot guarantee that the food will measure up to the gastronomic delights served up by LOHO, but we will do our best.
                          Your feedback will be appreciated.

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                          I've been riding since 1959.

                            Addendum:

Having discussed the issue with Ray, we are thinking late Summer, early Fall: maybe second week after Labor Day; say mid September. That would be late enough in the year for everyone to take care of other things and still have good weather for riding out here! Huh? Huh? Sure would like to see every body!

September? Count me in! I might even have some money by then Earlier in the mont works better for me.

Only fly in the ointment is that I will probably loose my assistant at work; he has applied for another position working with computer forensics, and if that happens, I will be short a helper and/or trying to break in a replacement. Not fun when a 2 person unit looses one person!
