It seems as if we're waking up to a huge nothing burger of a storm here, it's wet for sure but as far as I can tell no death and destruction of biblical proportions as promised! I'm just now finishing my first cup of coffee and could put the empty Styrofoam cup down and it wouldn't move so if you're iffy on making the trip up here don't listen to the weatherman.

I identify as a man but according to the label on a package of Stauffers Baked Lasagne I'm actually a family of four!

Good time last night at the 'always a hoot' Saturday evening Awards. Prime Rib, Salmon & Chicken was good.

20+ out for a Sunday ride.
No breeze and no mist today. Sun may break through by this afternoon.

Bunch packed up, loaded and headed home this morning due to Monday work commitments.

20 staying over Sunday night so Iron Horse bringing in some Pizza for us tonight as the Kitchen is normally closed on Sunday but Chef accommodates us.

Made it to Big South Fork River and Recreation Area in Central TN just south of the KY border. It was wet and drizzling until the end of The Dragon then a downpour all the way through Knoxville. Thankfully it dried out the rest of the way.

Seeing everyone and getting plenty of saddle time Sunday made the whole trip worth it. Got back at 2am as we towed to the dragon and foothills pkwy to Maryville, Knoxville then i40, i81
Going home on a Monday at 9am, what do you find on the dragon? A18 wheeler and excavator of course. Click image for larger version

Nick and I trailered through the Dragon at 9:30 Monday and came head on with a semi escorted by police. It was hauling arse.

We imagined it was special effort for disaster relief.

Found my picture taken by one of the photographers on the dragon at 10:30 Monday and saw maybe 10 cars (no bikes) headed north and let through four bikes wanting to go faster heading south. There was a pickup truck off the road at that scenic overlook at the very end.

                                WHEELS THROUGH TIME

UPDATE : As you probably know, on Friday of last week, Maggie Valley and the surrounding regions were hit with devastating floods as Hurricane Helene passed through the area. Thankfully, the museum, our staff, and the collections are safe. The museum is currently closed for daily operations as this event has rippled the infrastructure here; roads, power, internet, and phones were all dramatically affected. When we have established a reopening date, we will send out an email and post it on all our social media platforms. Until then, we are asking for your help. The fall season is one of the busiest times of the year for tourism-related businesses in Western North Carolina, and without the steady stream of visitors, many businesses will feel the impact. As our way of helping our community, we will donate a portion of all online proceeds during the month of October to local flood relief efforts.
