Mary, Aaron and I went to the Dogwood Rally at TWO this past weekend. This is an XS650 event, but what's a few cc's among friends? There were two rides on Saturday, with one rather fast paced one that did the parkway twice and Dragon twice, 275 miles in all, and one that stayed within the speed limit and close to Suches. We didn't see any off's anywhere on the trip and it was sunny and in the eighties. Could have been the best day I have ever spent on a MC. There were only five of us that left on the long route: Yamaha TDM, BMW 1150 something S, XS650 tracker, Kawasaki 1100 sport bike and me on my Suzuki V-Strom 1000. We met a couple of riders in Tennessee, one on a rare '98 TDM and the other on a very pretty, but very slow, Victory. Sorry, no XS11's at this rally. I would highly recommend this ride/party for 2007 for anyone that could make it.

Seems like the Rally site is down. Sooo, anybody know when it is? Who's going to attend. What accommodation choices are there? I may truck a bike down but still up in the air.
It's October 13, 14, 15 2006 but Bruce and I will be down there on the 11th for a little pre rally scouting of the proposed routes. Last year we got serious and actually rode all the routes for this year after last years rally.
It will be seriously Twisty, Sat ride will include the best of the best of twisty roads. Sunday will be a trip up the Skyway and deals gap, and then some more twisty stuff to top it off.
There will be a nice not so twisty ride of about half the lenght on each of the two days, if we can find someone to lead the ride.
You will not regret it.
Check out the TWO website, if they are booked then they give local places to get a cabin or camp in the area.
I 've had a cabin at http://www.highvalleyresort.com/ (The new cabins are REAL nice)
reserved for several months already. My wife and I will be there hopefully on Friday and plan to stay until the following Sunday.
A week in those mountins sounds like a great vaction to me.
I plan to bring at least one XS11 for the group rides(I should have 3 by then), my Valkyrie (for cruising during the week), and my son's Concours (he will be coming up with friends for the second weekend.
