We look forward to meeting you.
Thanks, Mike! Same here. If all goes well, I may continue on to Fayetteville, GA and visit my brother. (Kurt, may tag along with you all on your way home).

And I am in the market for another triple like my old 81, so hope there are some there I can check out.

Looking forward to my first rally. Wish I could do May but my schedule never permits it.

      Hi Steve,
motorcycle touring with a tent is a great experience. IH is about as good a set up as I have seen.
Having said that. For a 1st multi state trip perhaps the comfort of a room is a better bet.
This rally involves a lot of riding which is why we love it so much
Last year I did 12 days out with 4 nights in the tent and stayed in a room at IH. Balance of nights were spent staying with friends. ( I am lucky that way )
I use a water tight bag ( canoe pack) that holds my tent and sleeping bag.
I do not cook when camping.

Do at least a full day ride to test your packed equipment. Balanced both left to right and front to back. Make sure it is SECURE. A shifting load can kill you

What ever you decide I look forward to seeing you there.

Good advice Phil..I'm light packing stuff and never camp any more...keeping in mind that the IH is at over 2000 feet and in late Sept it can get cold overnights and in the mornings...I always have had a roof over my head and a real bed to sleep in...not to mention a bathroom that you dont have to get out of your cabin to get to...

          Addie

I'm wondering if Addie is going to show up at the Ironhorse this September?

            Hi Mike,
Sadly Addie will not be making the trip to Iron Horse.
I will be riding the Concours. Looking forward to seeing you again and following in the group you are leading

              Hi Phil...
Even if Addie is up to snuff..its just not as comfortable as being on a real sport tourer..nor can it get the tank range the Connie gets...It is very easy to become spoiled by the amenities of a more modern bike...BTDT..and hopefully will do it again soon...

                Hi Ben,
All true but if i had the resources I'd still go on Addie. Just eats Interstate miles effortlessly

We're working on this thing again. We're posted on a lot of Yamaha forums and FB sites. I hope to get a return on the effort investment. I'm hoping this will be our best ever.

If you're on the fence, what are you waiting for? Beds are limited by now, but plenty of camping space is available.

                    If you have a change

Posting again in case anyone has to change their plans -
I will take your Semi Private or Private Cabin Room. Sally would like to come down and visit old friends and of course wear out some tires...

                    Thanks!

Last I checked, private rooms were available in some of the canins up the hill.

                        Thanks.
I am hoping to stay closer to the creek and pavilion, due to a bit of a hitch in my git-along.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this year. The good news for someone, a a deluxe lodge room in the big house right next to the lodge just opened up.

"Deluxe Lodge Room – NEW for 2017

Located in Lodge next to Pavilion. King bed plus sitting area, mini fridge, coffee maker, SAT TV. Linens and towels provided. Bath stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and hair dryer.
                          $129.95 per night"

Hopefully make this one again next year.

                              Hopeful!

Hopefully the time delay doesn't hurt. I did get a PM from him last evening, didn't see it till too late to call. I sent a message to IH this morning, will call at 8AM.
                              Thanks!
