I will try some, but much of it defies description. Several sections of the trip had sparse fuel supplies.
I do not believe it was 100 miles between gas stations. An XS1100 special could have made it without extra fuel. Still, we all filled up or topped off just after passing the DOT last chance sign. That is what triggered the frequent use - fraud alert on my credit card.
We stayed two nights at Comfort Inn in Florida City. It is about 15 miles from a Casino resort with Exellent food on hwy 41 at hwy 997?. Also 123 miles or 2&1/2 to 3 hrs from key west. Also maybe 50 miles from Royal Palm in Everglades NP, which has admission fee, but well worth it.
I did enjoy it, and may want to go again next year.
A little warm mid winter riding was nice. If you go, bring summer gloves and sunscreen. (also rain gear)Good food: al;igator & chicken Gumbo at Saltwater cafe near Nnaples, Fresh shrimp & fish at PT's in key west. Many scenic and backroads along the way too.
We had no GPS, and to make it even more challenging we had one person chart or plan our course, then another carry the map, and a third used only a compass. Some times we checked neither compass nor map, and chose a road recommended by locals or one that looked good. Amazingly, we wandered back on course pretty often.
May be Florida City , Frostproof, or YeeHaw Junction would make a good base for rally HQ next year.

I have a rally plan! not a road trip, a Rally. copied the idea.
Is Groundhog day a good time to be south of Frostproof, Floridal?
"Here's some ideas for you:
A three day meet from Tuesday to Thursday gives folks from a long ways away, three travel days on each side, and they still only have to use one week of vacation time.
Short, local rides for Tuesday and Thursday gives the long distance folks a saddle break, and lots of opportunity for mingling.
Then you can throw in a long (i.e. 12 hour) major ride on the Wednesday.
Think about a big BBQ type event for Tuesday night, again to give lots of opportunity for socializing. That will give you leftovers for an easy meal after a long day in the saddle on Wednesday. Then Thursday night can be a large group restarant/pub event for a final night together.
It's a simple plan, but it has worked in the past.

Hi Ham Jam,
Phil has his 650 waiting for him in Georgia so he can ride it to FL. No need to trailer his bike this year. I have not heard from Tom yet about this one.
See Southeast rallies for details.
Y'all are invited.
