Get it running and ride it. respect the size and power and it will not hurt you.....much..

As to the help, well you are a timely soul. Seriously, look into the MOM thread. They welcome anyone who comes (helps if you bring an XS1100 though.) Anything you need fixed, someone there will know how to fix it and be happy to help you with it to. JAT.

Otherwise, sounds like you have a couple XSives reasonably close by.

Sounds to me like the typical situation. PO "Yep carbs were just rebuilt and completely tuned, might need a little fine tuning to smooth her out though." Reality - Carbs still have the seals on them form the factory and some cobwebs growing over the varnished gas in the jets.

Really though, sounds like a VERY common issue of the float needle valves sticking open. Just about the first thing to do to an XS11 when you get one is pull the cabrs and replace those suckers. Cause more trouble than a wife. I got both, so I know.

Typical causes range from the petcock filters fell off in the tank and so your getting unfiltered fuel into the carbs, and the debris has got to those pesky little needle valves. To the valve is just plumb worn out and therefore needs replacing. Typically, by the time you tear the carbs out of the bike and down to inspect those valves, you might as well replace them. HTH

He could click on my name in one of my postings and send me a PM that way...

BUT... the bathroom wall is always a good source for numbers... but what would he want with your contact info? ohhhhhhhh... nevermind...

If ya can get to Austin, I bet we can figure it out in less than a day. If not, load 'er in the the pickup and take it to the MOM rally. Bikes have been ridden in there, stripped to the block and rode home in the same weekend. We might be able to concentrate more on bikes this year than the swelting heat of last year.

Ya might try some Sea Foam in the gas and ride the snot out of it for a few days. If not, you will become a member of the "triple clean" club.
                              When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger
