Most of the time on a valve shim.. what you take out of one bucket ends up going into another.. so you usually don't use or need very many extra. Last time I did mine down there, the Yamaha shop there swapped one with me for free that was out in the library. My local shop just makes me buy them at $5 a shot.
if trbig is coming, either crank bearings or a trans grind.
I don't think it'll make it until then. Hopefully I'll get it done beforehand and get to stand there and point at other peoples' broke stuff! lol. Of course.. I still have 3 months to tear something else up...
Where can I buy a valve shim kit so I don't have to use up the library?
I wouldn't worry about it Jeremy... It's a trade in deal so you wouldn't wipe it out... Another member also has a library that we might be able to tap into since I am running low on some sizes... up to you of course... Another option is E-bay and there might be some local shops that will trade them out for you...

I think it's that "everything's bigger in Texas" mentality... It's not a rally unless there's an engine spread all over the ground...
Ditto on the Valve adjustment for the Mad Mos. I've never done it so no telling when it was done last. My valve cover just started leaking so it needs to be done anyway.
Who ever gets here first and has a problem will be what we work on. We will probably have the obligitory carb synching. Maybe valve adjustment, and if trbig is coming, either crank bearings or a trans grind.
Judging by the replies it looks like there might be a pretty good crowd at your place. Any thoughts on what is going to be worked on this year? (besides whatever someone breaks on the way there).
Shoot.. we've even had people show up in Hondas!! (OK.. it was a car.. but still..)
and it was a good thing they did too... as I recall... that was the only car at the car show that evening...
lol
It's not the Honda that bothered me... it's the dang Suzuki... but I found one today as a matter of fact... 699 miles and only $7500... seriously considered selling everything else to get it... but then thought... naaaaaaaaaaaah
"I'd rather beat Tod on my FJ anyway..."
(DON'T say it! I'm GOING to get it running)
Could it possibly be? That would be great if you could make it again Brent! We'll even start it early if you want to ride in... maybe get a ride in before the work begins...
