    Being poor folk...

and cheap... I mean... frugal... we'll be staying at the Trade Winds (at least... that's where we intend to stay)... right down the road from the Best Western...

Not certain I would want to count on making it 111 miles between gas stops... unless I ride the FJ, in which case there would be NO problem... but looks like I might be making the trip on Foster Child... so might be a problem...

We will have to stop at fewer miles than that with all the "Special" people there.

I though a special would easily do that. I have never had a problem going that far before.

2 fer sure. Staying at Best Western. They have spa tubs!!!! I'm bringin Mr. Bubble with me. (lets see where Kat and Prom goes with that one!!!!) Warrior Boy and spouse might make it.

FYI, Warrior boy traded his '03 Warrior for, you guessed it, a HD (maybe thats why he says he might make it ). I guess he could not stand the pressure of his wife having a HD, or he could not get the warrior to cruise that slow.

And...for those that have had to ride anywhere near his Warrior, he has not had a chance to change pipes on the HD so you can leave your hearing protection at home.

              Foster Child

I (we) will be doing the 750 FD swap on Foster Child next week, so the fuel milage won't be such an issue.
We are staying at the Tradewinds Motel, just down the street from the Best Western. The rates were cheaper there, and the room has a king size bed. (Less chance of falling off)
Webb, how about Mrs. Bubbles, is she coming too? I think she'd be more fun.

                ~*~singing~*~

                Tiiiiiny bubbles....

You know Keoki... most guys wouldn't make that so public...

Ohhhh... I have to start reading these posts a little better... You said Mr. Bubbles... I'm bringing Mr. Bubble too... but I call him John... and that's only in the tub... otherwise... ohhhh... nevermind... I'm just going to enjoy the tiny bubbles thing a little more... before I get myself in trouble... again...

Ummmm HobbyMan... STOP BRAGGING... You aren't too young to have your head thwacked too, ya know... besides... you're making me jealous... until I get on the FJ...

Actually... a Special usually can do it, I believe... unless it has a big bore (which Twilite has)... A bit of sacrifice on the gas mileage for a lot more oomph...

and the room has a king size bed. (Less chance of falling off)
Yeah... okay... like that's stopped it before...

                  road checks

So since my last route check ride.....

                  After lunch in Frankston:
like I said another 33 miles south.
That's 155 south 20 miles to the north end of Palestine.
Catch loop 256 take a RT and follow it 6 miles.
Take FM 322 south 7 miles to 294 take a LT.
Follow 294... does some weird turns... 24.5 miles to FM 23
Follow FM 23 14 miles into Rusk
                  LT on Main St.
RT at 84 for one blk... LT on 84 'til you cross 69
First LT is FM 768 (not marked 'til you get on it)
That one goes 15 miles to Jax loop 456 RT
This becomes 204 another 2 1/2 miles to hwy 79
Turn LT and about 1 1/2 miles to The Hot Biscuit for dinner and Banner Removal Procedures!

Today me and Dayna went from home to Frankston to Palestine and scoped out the loop. Smooth and mostly straight but very pretty countryside.

Ashley and I went from the house to Rusk and rode the last portion of the ride. For the last section after Rusk the twisties are numerous, some pretty sharp. But the roads are a little rough in places and there was a small amount of mud here and there. So we of course tip-toed through some places.

No peg scraping with the girls on the back... ever. Well........ maybe once or twice.... only teaching in a parking lot(controlled circumstances etc etc)

That leaves about 50 miles of the ride I havent scoped out yet.

I gotta have some excuse to do more riding later, right???

                  Scouting is so much fun

I'm bringing three riders (including myself), and maybe one more. Get this...three of us ride XJ1100s. My twin broher rides a '75 Gold Wing. I'll join Wildkat in the "cheap seats"; I booked a room at the Trade Winds Motel also.

Should be fun...see ya soon, Stan

P.S. My XJ has an XS750 final drive, a Hayabusa fuel pump, a GM ignition system, a Suzuki GSXR600 throttle body, and a MegaSquirt EFI computer...so I guess I'm riding a YamaBusa-GM-Sucky bike. Say that three times with an Asia accent. I'll use the rally to offically record my MPG's. Hmm, last time I got 44-47 MPG...I wonder...Can I go the whole route without re-fueling? Should be educational, I'm counting the days.

Final comment, I'm leaving Houston around 1:00 PM Friday; Any of you locals want to tag along? I'm taking a truck, with a trailer, so I can carry some cargo and one more bike, or some passengers. My cell phone is 713-306-3494, or email me a stan@hutchgroup.org. I'll be going North on Hwy.59 to Lufkin, then Hwy.69 to Jacksonville. (And for added safety, store my phone number in your cell phones, just in case you need a friend while on the road...)

Since you'll be saving so much on gas... just go ahead and come up to Oklahoma and pick me up while you're at it!

Well crap... never mind. I'll already be at John and Wildkat's by Friday... Hope to see everyone soon...like it or not.. lol

Hmmm.... Since I outweigh you by about a hundred pounds.... which one of us do you think would be out there dangling on that hook??

Last time I talked to him, Maximan and maybe Poprock were tentatively planning to show up for the Saturday ride, then head southwest from there. Is that guy you know in eastern Oklahoma going to show?

Has anyone taken a rough count so far of how many are still planning on attending???

90 miles and I'm sniffin' for petrol

                              Hey Folks,

Nothing has changed for me. PackMule, the Special will only go 90 miles before I need gas. If I hit headwinds like I did coming home from the meeting of the minds, I got 77 miles before I was sniffin'.

So the smokers in the group will still love me!

SWMBO and I will be coming in Friday. I'm gonna go get a reservation now...

                              See everyone on Friday!
