    fuel stops

If we all top off and throw in the ghost visit in the morning that'll put everyone at 111.7 ~ish for a fuel stop at Frankston, which is the middle of the figure 8.

    That'll make the final number 203.6 ~ish.

Can everyone make 111 on gas?

Course if we have some sightseeing stops planned there will be many opportunities for pitstops and top-offs.

anyone want all the GPS coordinates for the run???

      route check

Took my twin girls out riding today and we ran errands. Dayna and I went and set everything up at Hot Biscuit for our breakfast, including hanging the Banners.

Ashley and I went and checked the route for a little while.

The Killough Monument portion will be good......

We then went ahead and ran the portion up to Poynor.

      which is all mileage approximate.

      after breakfast and killough
      20 miles

      79 south 12 miles
FM 2574 turn RT 2 miles
FM 321 turn RT 14 miles
Hwy 19 turn RT 8 miles
FM 837 turn RT 6 miles
      cr 485/FM 2588 turn LT .3 miles
CR 481 turn RT 4 miles
FM 315 turn LT 5 miles
Cross 175 in Poynor this is where we stopped
Continue on 315 18 miles *** we didnt go up to the lake.

The CR-485 and CR-481 was about 4.3 miles of potholes, one lane road and really really rough.

If we stay on 837 for about 4-5 more miles almost into Brushy Creek and then catch 315 and go north (315 is really nice) from there it'll add 4-5 to the 837 leg and 4-5 to the 315 leg. Both are a little twisty and smooth.

That should be the only twisty portions until we get to Palestine and turn back up. That starts the next twisty section.

I also hunted a restaurant in Frankston for lunch and though they don't have a sign up yet was told they are very good. (not by the owner of said restaurant)
They just moved across and down the street.

I promise to scope out the remainder of the route as I can and let you know what the roads are like.

Hey Mark, that's a great idea!

We could ask Dan to bring some copies of his books to the mindless meeting, for us to buy/thumb through, and he could sign them. If you haven't PM'd him about it, I will.

                  more testing

Billy and me and the girls just went around the lake for a test of a smaller portion of the ride....... it was nice & smooth with a few twisties thrown in for good measure. Up around the lake there are crawfish restaurants and all kinds of places to stop and eat if that's where ya'll want to eat.

So from previous mileage chart I drew up in an earlier post here that brings us to Poynor headed north on 315 ...... few good twisties up the left side of Lake Palestine... kinda straight down the right side into Frankston.

heres the chart for this part.

after crossing hwy 175 in Poynor:
FM 315 North 19 more miles
Hwy 31 turn RT 2 miles
CR-1134 not marked but has a rest area 1/2 mile
FM 2661 not marked either turn RT 9.5 miles
Hwy 155 turn RT 10.5 miles to Frankston this is where we stopped this time.....

once we cross 175 again in Frankston we will have another 33 miles south on 155.... its on my next agenda.

but that'll be the next report !!!

I had so much fun driving up for the mindless meeting and then Dad's then back...... just under 600 miles for the weekend that I had to take Billy and the girls riding when we weren't so busy.

If the weather's good over the next few days we will get the rest road tested!

                  excuses excuses........

                    Cool Mark, sounds great.

Just a note: SWMBO is deathly allergic to shellfish (as some may remember from last spring's ride). So we will not be going to any crawfish places.
Last spring we ate in Kemah at a seafood rest, and I had to ride straight to the emergency room with her barely hanging on the back. Not fun

But any other place is great, im sure we will figure it out.

Can't wait!!! I need to ride

                      shellfish allergies

I am too........ Everytime my wife and kids eat shrimp they used to feel so bad because I love it and can't eat it....

The only way I could explain it to them was that I must have already had my share. I used to eat crab and shrimp all the time as a kid.

There were about 20 restaurants around the lake but I already scoped one out at Frankston..... and yes there really are no signs but it is a family restaurant. and it's very nice.

I just threw that one out there because just because I am allergic doesn't mean I don't want someone else getting the opportunity.

I had planned on snagging something at a gas stop........ I always worry about getting something fried or cooked too close to shellfish.

Fortunately for me I have never been ER'd by it.... I just break out with itchies everywhere.... I had a friend whose tongue would swell so bad he could suffocate.... he was always in the emergency room in Va.

What does it do to your wife..... it does weird stuff to anyone who is allergic.

                      We'll work it out somehow.............

she can go into anaphylactic shock. Her throat will close up and she cant breath. She carries an Epipen with her everywhere. Shellfish isn’t the only thing she is allergic to. Suralose (aka Splenda) is the worst, that stuff is poison to her. In fact its poison period, but the smallest amount can put her into shock in just a few minutes without treatment.

She would say the same thing about not making everyone eat somewhere just because of her allergies. But hey, Im the rally master, right?

I was hoping to ride with y'all again this year for the Spring ride, but I have commitments for the weekend over in Fredericksburg. I had to miss the fall one in Fredericksburg because I was at a ride near College Station. Seems like I keep going to the wrong part of the State.
Well, maybe for the fall get together I'll XS11E (New Project) on the road and wont have to show up on a Kawasaki.....

                                ! Hotel address correction

It has come to my attention that the address I have posted for the Best Western is incorrect.

                                Here is the correct info:

                                Best Western Executive Inn
                                1659 S Jackson Street
                                Jacksonville , Texas

This is the hotel many of us are staying in.

                                Sorry for the mixup.
